Building Up House Pads

I used a small skidsteer for the first time today and it gave me a whole new appreciation for you guys that operate all of the machines like that and the dozers like in this video. It must take a long time to develop the hand and foot coordination involved. I got some dirt moved around but it was probably pretty funny if anyone was watching. My normal machinery is a zero turn lawn mower, a trimmer, and a backpack blower. :)

U should go over and watch digging life 21. But if u want to watch an amazing guy with a tilt/rotator watch hedblom he can sweep at the end of the job with his excavator. Cris can operate all of their equipment like he grew up on it

You don't slam the door using the air brakes to get the packed clay out of the truck bed? Do you have the bed vibrator option on the truck instead or don't even bother at all?

Nice operating on your part. Do you have to shoot the rough grade of the clay with a transit? Or are you leaving the final elevation of the structure to the footing and concrete guys? We use grade stakes for the rough grade excavation and subsequently laser the footings and concrete in.

@@patrickquerry5768 he has a bubble level on his wrist like a smart watch. He turns it on after he gets close to grade. I like it when he forgets he has it on and it vibrates reel fast

Yes..they always do unless they are left to stand a season..you can always stomp the concrete floor and hear the hollow cavern..a few months later that is

slab house on clay soil = recipe for disaster, never buy one of those.

I agree! a granule of clay soil can expand up to 300 times its size when making contact with water. This constant expansion and retraction will cause the integrity of the slab to fail and break over time.

They get away with things in some certain parts of the country that we don’t do in the Northwest, we core our house pads and rock them with a minimum of one foot of rock, typically 2-3 feet and build it to within a tenth of a foot.

I’m assuming all those houses is from a contractor.. Whoever the contractor is shouldn’t be allowed to build houses for people. He built a house in a hole and is willing to put his name on that.. sad
