If you take a cheap bar of hand soap and rub your screw across it with the threads. The screw will go threw the wood much easier with out getting hot and squealing and braking off . So Saith The Rooster

I am building a green house for my father in law, using old wood and sheeting I had from a lean too. I couldn’t for the life of me decide on how to do the floor. But it’s gonna be pallets, thanks for the education

Your giving me ideas for closing in my carport doing the framing with pallets then putting up a vapor barrier lathe and then stucco to paint. Later on I could foam or fiberglass insulate and then stucco inside as well
@SteepintheWoods8 ай бұрын
I'm glad to hear it! - That's really the whole point of our channel, to encourage other 'financially challenged' people to be creative and grab Life by the horns! (Not that you necessarily are one of those people) As for insulation on our particular pallet House... I could only afford the thinnest foam board they make, but over top of that I'm going to put furring strips. And that is what I'll put my house wrap on. - the idea is that if our 'financial situation' improves.. I can always remove the house wrap and fill that Gap with another piece of foam board before reattaching the house wrap and then apply our siding to those furring strips.

From designing/building houses for 45 years..... not that much. I could offer some tips on putting fasteners in wood but this guy is doing fine. Not sure I would do two floors with this method but it really could be pretty stout structurally. I may build a pallet deck for a cabin if I can find any decent examples nearby....
@cjkershАй бұрын
Those walls are not strong, I was hoping to see how the pallets would be reinforced, there is a joint in the middle with little making it rigid except two 2 X 4's with are roughly 4' on center. Lots of wood but a relatively week structure.

pallets are abundant in my city (on CG free ALL THE TIME) but lumber is shit out the ass expensive these days...and i'm tired of spending money on this capitalist hellscape when there's these materials here for free! already talked to my local hardware and they said any pallets left out by the gate can be picked up for free. so....guess i'm finally gonna finish that dog house and put up a privacy wall for my patio. I'm thinking of doing pallet and COB since that works real well here in the rainy PNW. in fact OREGON COB style of building was founded in the 90s here in oregon.
