Now the graphics look like some cartoon simpson episode which in my opinion isn't thrilling or terrifying to lose fights in. If the Fortnite team needs something added to Unreal Engine there is a chance it will be done because they need it to forward the profits. I like almost evrything with this inreal engine system , except for one thing I think that Runtime VT needs a higher end hardware to be able to run , I , for example run into a problem in the game , thats why textures not loading , sometimes it just loads with crazy stutters , and sometimes it just never loads , this causes the game , (buildings, mountains etc) to look very pixelated and the game is barely playable at that point , I uploaded an example of this in a video on my youtube channel you can check if you want . I think that this is caused either by my drive , either by my processor

I think the issue you're experiencing has more to due with HLODs then the texturing system. Your device is struggling to update the environment from an HLOD to the normal environment, making the game breka. HLODs (from what we know) should be removed in the switch to UE5.

That water section alone is making me more tempted than ever to switch to ue4 from Unity. I just dont want to relearn the workflow =/
@derkleinedungeon52174 жыл бұрын
See it like this: I gave Unity a chance on our game pitch. 1.5 years to be exact and while it took me weeks to get a viable result on one specific topic, it took me a couple of hours to recreate it inside Unreal. Also, something I figured during the 1.5 years is that Unity's community is pretty toxic if you just ask something as a non-programmer. On Unreal Answerhub, I get answers in under a day and sometimes even from Epic devs. Something that never happened on the other side of the engine ocean beside stupid comments like "why do you even want to do this "or" if you can't code, you should not do that. I don't look back. If you are not good at C# and don't have a team with a Ghosts of Tsushima like team size - you can literally be happy to get some mobile apps or vaporware done in Unity - nothing else and everybody who wants you to tell otherwise never really tried UE4. If I would compare UE4 and Unity with Lego, UE4 is a fancy big toybox with ready to use and shiny bricks while Unity has a lot of broken bricks from the early 2000s that never got cleaned and repaired while the rest is pure granular plastic that you need to mold into usable bricks first. If anyone wants to tell me something different, go for it! I really tried to get into the Unity ecosystem - but by the end of the day, it was a horror trip that I don't want to experience ever again.
@Moonz974 жыл бұрын
@@derkleinedungeon5217 Thanks for your input. It's unfortunate and disheartening to see the Unity community become so toxic. On the same note, Unity feels very barebones compared to UE4, which is a curse and a gift at the same time: a curse cause you have to spent a lot of effort/time to implement *standard* things and a gift because there is less moving parts to learn in the engine. All in all, if that UE5 demo is as real as it seems, UE5 will be a no-brainer choice.
@Moonz974 жыл бұрын
@@derkleinedungeon5217 On a side note, how was your transition from Unity to UE4 like?
@derkleinedungeon52174 жыл бұрын
@@Moonz97 Well, I don't think Unity is bad and you can actually see good games at very high quality made with it. But the overall workflow, especially for smaller projects and within people that may come from a more artistic side of game development, it is cursing if you spend most of the time figuring out how something works and then try to make it work rather which not only costs a lot of time but also lowers the inner expectations to get something more done on your daily task list.
@derkleinedungeon52174 жыл бұрын
@@Moonz97 I am going to keep the story as simple as possible: I already worked four years on a bigger production with UE4. During that time, I started a little game pitch on my own with a colleague, using UE4. I got catfished by Unity when they released their "Book of the Dead" video. They promised a lot like this new shiny HDRP pipeline. For me, it was a perfect choice because my colleague had it easier to work in C# rather than C++. It was not my first rodeo with Unity and gave it a chance. During the pre-production we ran from one Wall into another, mostly driven by broken stuff from Unity and a big lack of documentation everywhere. Small, normally one-hour tasks became countless nights. One day, Sykoo, a Unity KZbinr made another video about upcoming features in 2020.fukkit while we just waited for bugfixes on version 2018 that never came. I was just ragequitting Unity. The transition took a day and I was able to recreate a one month map work in a couple of hours on the same weekend. Yes, workflow and UI are different but from an artist's point of view, you may get into UE4's UI and functions pretty fast. Plus, the Unreal Academy and KZbin are a very good and healthy foundation to get started. UE4's Editor, in most situations, is a WYSIWYG driven system. It can appear pretty complex, but that is going to vanish once you start to understand the ecosystem of its separate sub-editors like the Blueprint Editor for example.

Is that supposed to be some kind of joke? I don't get the punchline.

the punchline is the fact that I realize how hard it would be to make my own game after watching this

then you're doing something wrong, Even a 5 year old low end card can run that game at 60 fps

@@anotheruser7691 my 1050 barely pulls a constant 100fps, even though I've gone though hours of optimisation, my old worse laptop had better, and more stable fps in chapter 1.

@@dogwithswag you're probably having a cpu bottleneck, or your cpu isn't as powerful as needed for the game. Fortnite became highly cpu demandant in the last months. I've got a constant 100 fps with a gt 1030, a card that is not intended for gaming, but for multimedia. I've also tested the game with max settings with a gtx 960. A 6 year old gpu, with constant 70 fps at epic settings.
