I really like the design. I'd definitely recommend placing the main speakers to the left and right of the cabinet as being on the floor, even angled upwards isn't going to be ideal, especially since there is only a small portion of that area for the sound to come out. Another question is will you need to choose a small center channel speaker so that it doesn't block the light? Great job on the video Tony.
@BuildMontage9 ай бұрын
Thanks Michael - I agree, either compromise and have the speakers inside the cabinet or put towers on the side - which is how I had my UST setup for ages.. and yes you would need a small center which won't block the light - this one does allow you to pull the drawer out further and the black part of the screen is usually acoustically transparent so you could even have the speaker behind it. I just found this to be a cool product and interesting enough to make a video on :) Thanks for watching mate.

The problem is that is tv 98 inch around 2000 dlls here in the states. I’m a projector guy but big tvs are getting cheaper. I’m starting to put more attention to tvs

Electricity in the US is dirt cheap, something that's not the case in Europe. I know, a laser TV isn't without flaws, but it's way more energy efficient than a 98-100-115 inch LCD TV. Besides that, a huge 98-100-115 inch LCD TV, will always be present in the living room, you can't hang or put it nearby a window ore a place with a lot of light, that results with reflections on the screen. This rollable floor rising screen disappears in the UST cabinet. That's something i can sell to the lady of the house for the aesthetic of the living room! With this combination, i hit 2 birds with one stone, the laser ust projector is more energy efficient and the screen disappears wen it's not in use.

In your displayed setup (screen in front of the tv) what do you suggest be done with placement of the center channel?
@BuildMontage8 ай бұрын
There really isn't a great deal you can do with the center speaker in this specific setup unless you place an in-wall behind the black part of the screen which i believe is acoustically transparent.

Can you watch this screen in the daytime in a lit room? Or this is for dark rooms only?
@BuildMontage11 күн бұрын
Definitely you can use in a lit room with that combo setup. It's designed to reject light from the top. It does wash it a little but its more than good enough for day time use.

Between the formovie, Aurora pro or an awol 3000 or 3500 which would you suggest for the best Dolby vision and HDR content? It will be in a dedicated room so ambient light will not be an issue

LTV 3000 Pro.

Yes the box is handy just to hide the projector away for sure - you could have a fixed frame screen with this if you wanted to no issues.

On one of your past videos you showed that you had put together a frame behind your projector screen to add back lights. Can you tell me how you did that.

Awesome video as always. Production is top notch. This product looks awesome and provides an option for people that have a UST and want an elegant solution. It's nice to see options for UST projectors. I hope UST can come down in price to make them competitive to some of the big TVs that are coming out at a great price

Love the video @BuildMontage!! You not ONLY get a like from me, but I'm subscribing now too!!! Super fan of projection even in todays Flat Panel Fanatics day and age. Less fatigue with still very sharp/crisp images and even HDR. Eyes NEVER hurt from a multiple season binge of my favorite Anime/Show/etc and I LOVE how USTs are close to the wall with better than Flat Panel TV speakers built in! Looking forward to your next video! I also hope that as more of these types of cabinets hit the market, price can go down due to saturation, but that's still going to be some time before it happens, sadly. Edit: I have replaced all but one Flat Panel TV in my home as I used the JMGO O1 Pro as a "TV" for the Primary Bedroom in my house, but am looking to replace it with a Hisense PL1 laser and then I'll put the JMGO O1 Pro in the guest bedroom since UST's are SUPER EASY to move from room to room!

Can you get an acoustic transparent ALR screen?
@BuildMontage9 ай бұрын
I haven't seen any, however I believe the bottom of the screen which is black is acoustically transparent so you can put speakers wall mounted behind it but then it's kinda defeats the purpose of retracting the screen. The UST concept definitely has it's challenges.
@Totalplonker9 ай бұрын
Movies are 50% visuals and 50% audio, and their are occasions when the audio out does the visuals. Hence, there is no placement for the most important speaker. A beautiful visual display with Mickey Mouse audio kinda defeats the object!

Awesome video mate. Love your work. Sadly the product, whilst pretty cool, is way too expensive. Even half the price seems too much, given it doesn’t come with a screen. Wonder how hard it is to make something similar with a cheap cabinet and a Raspberry Pi.

Even in your counter to short throw laser tvs not being worth it anymore, you showed a cheaper 100 inch hisense tv with FAR superior picture quality than any projector and most non OLED tvs. Not exactly a strong case. A 98 inch TCL costs $2000 and is better than any projected image.
@BuildMontage9 ай бұрын
I know where you're coming from, but everyone has different criteria. I would 100% sacrifice image quality for a cinematic image and a TV just doesn't compare in that department for me personally. It's all about choices and we are really spoilt for choice right now where everyone has the option to go with more variety to suit their needs.

Rediculous price for a cabinet …and it doesn’t even solve the problem of placement for a decent multichannel surround speaker system . Speaker bars and small speakers are not the answer.
@BuildMontage5 ай бұрын
It's really not when you compare it to others and also functional furniture. I know why you think that, I did initially as well but it's a pretty incredibly engineered piece that does solve the problem for those only after lifestyle and not worrying too much about center speakers etc. I just like to show everything I can on my channel - we are spoilt for choice these days :)

I love your channel sir but I have to be honest this just doesn't make sense for anyone. What I mean by that is that up to 100" screen size it just not worth it getting projector anymore. 98" and 100" tv's at least in USA are not that much money anymore. You can get 98" TCL TV for $2,500 plus let's say add another $500 for instalation and you have you're self device that will be superior in every way to even much higher level projectors. Especially when it comes producing Dolby Visual or HDR image. The only reason I can see having projector today is if you have room to swing something like 150" or larger screen and dedicated room with lights control. Other than that TV would be always my Number 1 option 🤷🏼♂️ Not to mention paying $5k for the cabinet and screen only is just way to much $ for a lot's of people 🥺
