also that custom TB4 M2 modules are fascinating! at first i thought cool m2 M key slots near the IO like the wifi cards, then you scrolled to the manual warning not to use other M2 cards there and wow i was blown away!

i can confirm that you can swap the TB module if it is faulty. There is a way to get to it under the I/O Cover :)

@@BuildOrBuy Im waiting for the new Tr Pro 5975x to use with that board since the board and cpu both support overclocking. The other board that i have with me right now is the Asus WRX80 Sage but does not support oveclocking yet.. Runs the older TR Pro 3975x just fine and has a bios upgrade to support the new 5000 series of TR Pro's but no overclocking yet :(

nice video again.If you get a supermicro 747btq-r2k04 like I did,the Asus wrx80e-sage will not fit unless you use a small grinder in spots and rx6900xt will not fit unless you move the fan bar that is for 4 large fans.

Hi there Gill. Don't know if you remember but you made a video about a coment that I posted a few weeks ago. Just to let you know I finally got a new drive. I used the second PCIe Slot and I went for a 4TB Firecuda 530 (I got it for sale for only 555 euros, I think its a terrific price for a 4TB Pcie 4.0), also I picked up the Sabrent Heatink you reviwed and let me tell you the temps are excelent, and lastly I got for now a really affordable Ampcom Pcie 4.0 Adapter, works like a charm, the only anoying thing is that it has a really bright green LED that is always ON and flickers when the drive is used, discounting that I'm really really happy with the results, the drive is crazy fast (I've got 7164MB/s Read and 6900Mb/s Write Q8T1)..., its cooled like its in a fridge and franky I got it all for under 600 euros so can't complain. Again I would like to thank you for your amazing video, it helped me alot, you have no idea. Maybe in the future if I fill the 4TB I will get another one and pair it with the Asus 4.0 expansion card (The chipset PCIe lane its really close to the bottom fans I have and I think the Asus is the only expansion card that will clear that area. Also for external storage, what do you recommend, a NAS system? It would be really helpfull if you could elavorate on that, because I've heard that you can upgrade a NAS system with a Thunderbolt card if I'm not mistaken, and even tho I'm really happy right now with the purchase I always like to see if there are ven a better option. Another Computer is much easier to manage over the long haul for Storage. A simpler Storage Device! However, depends upon Your Workflow Requirements. Thunderbolt Storage or 10GbE Storage. External Storage is going M.2 NVMe RAID. We have talked about 2 Options in that realm. BlackMagic Cloud Store and iodyne Pro Data Thunderbolt 3 M.2 NVMe Storage. We have a Video on the later. Your videos gave me confidence to build a Threadripper Designare x399. I followed directions especially when it came to ESD protection and CPU installation. The system was working great and the only code the motherboard was giving was A0. However, later it started giving me an A5 "Issue reset during the SCSI initialization process". The system is prone to lockups that require a hard boot by shutting off the PSU. I have done everything from reinstalling the OS to reseating the CPU, memory, and graphics card with no luck. I have researched this problem and get many different answers to what could be the issue. Please do you have any suggestions or ideas on how I could fix this issue? The system has 128GB of Viper DDR4 UDIMM memory, Viper VPN100 PCIe m.2 SSD, and Radeon Pro WX3200 graphics card. I'm not sure what to do at this point.

Hi D. Buchko, Welcome! What Bios version are You using? Which Thunderbolt AIC do You have? What's the Order from top to bottom of Your ADD in Cards are You using? Starting with GPU.

The BIOS is F11 and the system is bare bones as described. Only the one SSD in slot closest to CPU and GPU in number 1 PCIe. I am using the peripheral cables that came with the Corsair Dark tower.

Hi@@d.buchko4270, Lockups were a problem going back several years. Can You Update Bios from F11 to F12? Primary Bios only! Then, Check BIOS for setting "PSU Idle Control" and set it to "Typical Current Idle".

Hi Max Hughes, I hear You! Not my Preference either. Changing one thing, changes everything! My Preference for Thunderbolt is still the 1st Gigabyte WRX80 Motherboard. This ASRock Motherboard is the only WRX80 right now with Thunderbolt 4 and it's a vastly different implementation! Always scouring for new WRX80 Threadripper Pro Info! We're getting closer to those 5000 Series CPUs! Had to share this!

@@BuildOrBuy Yes. There are big storage need guys and A/V guys with different needs or that want to keep an older drive system up and running. All I see are bottlenecks in device access to and from the cpu/gpu/ram/storage. I want everything running at X16 GEN4 lane speeds, 8 channel ram to a cpu at 4.5 Gig all cores. I'll run all the radiator I need to get it. I would like to see if a mobo with a PLX chip Raid 0 boot drive will also run a hybrid or second PLX chip Raid 0 storage drive.

Hi@@maxhughes5687, Either Older or Other Drive systems running. Depends. I hear what You're saying. It's all about access to Data. The GRAID may be the way to go in the long run. Yes, a PLX Chip based Boot Drive array, easy. And the 2nd PLX Based Drive array for Storage, yes. The 1st Drive array would have a Bootable Bios to Append the Motherboard Bios. The 2nd Drive array would not but otherwise could be similarly Configured. All doable. That would make an interesting Video! Reminds me of the ASUS Workstation Motherboards with X299 that had PLX Chips to ADD PCIe Resources. We did not get a chance to do a Video on those. Once X399 came about, We just kept moving forward then the TRX40 and here We are now, WRX80 staring Us down!

How many rtx 3090-ti GPUs can I pack in it?

Hi Numan Welcome! All Vendors state 4 GPUs. However, 6 should be possible based on PCIe Resources. But then considering the Content Creation Rendering Engine, Data has to be copied to all GPUs. So We're not getting a Combined Memory allocation. If Your doing AI, You might prefer the AMD EPYC Platform instead of a WRX80 Workstation. What's Your task? All depends upon the Project for a Purpose Built Computer! Then You have to consider Power Requirements for all of those GPUs. For a Workstation, think Workstation GPUs. 2 Slots wide. Unless You have RTX 3090Ti GPUs 2 Slots wide, Liquid Cooled! Big Rig!

Hi@@ikbo, If using Consumer GPUs, suggest Alphacool or EKWB. Slot Width is going to be the biggest problem since Workstation PCIe Slots are 2 Slots wide. Perfect fit for a Workstation GPU that's 2 Slots wide. Might be better off with 1 - RTX A6000. Less Power required to run and less Heat!
