I wish Built to Spill would get full documentary treatment. My favorite band of all time.

Doug Martsch/BTS is the equivalent to 90s/2000s rock music as Lou Reed/VU were in the late 60s. Millions of people haven’t heard them, but those who have were immensely influenced, changed even, by what they were hearing. Doug and BTS are hands down the biggest influence on my music/songwriting. There would be no Formals(my shitty band) without these guys. I love BTS like an old best friend

Aye, your on the Built To Spill fan page on Facebook. I’ve heard a couple of your songs. Haven’t found time to play the whole album yet. Pretty good though. Not shitty at all.

You have NO IDEA. It was like one Monday my freshman year in Eastern Washington we took some acid and got ready to watch the weekly Monday Night Football game. (It was something we really did the first time maybe second, after that it just became an excuse fr my grandparents. Just like night fishing for yellow bellies had been 6th-9th grade). Any way Monday I was listening to Master of Puppets and by Tuesday it was Treepeople and I never looked back. Had no Idea guitar could be so chaotic and loud but the vocals didn't have to be so cock rocky. I mean Emo wasn't even a thing yet. The first time I heard the term actually was in reference to a local band Small. The Label actually had trading cards like baseball for each band (cool idea, I'm surprised I never saw that done by anyone else) and Small was described as Emo-Punk by Mysophobic records. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZiYaJRtqsmrn6c.

Kurt Cobain a week before passing away attended a tree people concert. it was one of his last public spotting's. and his last concert he attended as an audience member. let that sink in.

His talent is definitely not limited :) it takes a lot of talent to focus on and elaborate on the simple moments that turn into brilliant built to spill songs.

well maybe by age. Thats normal tho. Took him 12 years to write the last record and it sucked. I was over them once they started doing 30 minute Neil Young covers and then "Freebird" hell I was even embarrassed. But the 90's stufff doesn't get any better than that.

@@spikeycoda The last album didn't suck. You never gave it a chance becasue it didn't sound as you expected - but 'Whem I'm Blind' is a brilliant song, dummy.

@@freddyjisp9420 well after 30 minute long Niel Young covers and 40 minute Free Birds you are left with a thick filmy disgusting taste in your mouth. Ive been listening to Doug since $5 Treepeople shows at The Hoedown. Now that band could do no wrong. But BTS can easily wander far from my target tones Ill entertain. As a listener its much easier for me to crave a high energy sound than it is for an artist to deliver that for 40 years straight. Accusing someone of just expecting the same old song in these days is a little ignorant. Ive got 300 GB s of music sweeping wide genres. I'm not wanting to pigeon hole anybody. That winy voice does much better backed up with a harder edgier sound in my opinion or its just all a big bag of emo whaaaaaaaa

Every thousand years this metal sphere ten times the size of Jupiter floats just a few yards past the earth you climb on your roof and take a swipe at it, with a single feather hit it once every thousand years til you've worn it down to the size of a pea.
