He may have been a local drummer who filled in and doesn't normally play with Built to Spill. Now that I think about it, Doug may be the only actual member in this group. None of the rest of these musicians look comfortable with the songs.

I saw Built To Spill live last year twice once in Berkeley and once at Noise Pop 2018 and both times I was kinda disappointed that it was just Doug and a drummer, it was still a great show, but I saw Built To Spill live once years ago with a full band and the live experience was something special. The way every little piece interacted with the other fluidly moving in and out of rhythm and lead, harmonies and counterpoints, I haven't heard another band play that tight yet so natural and organic in my whole entire life. So I'd love to see that again when I see Built To Spill again this year.

@@HelinaFernanda Yee, I'm seeing them on their last stop, where they play at a winery in beautiful Sonoma county that usually only does weddings and only has enough room for like 200 people. I'm hoping it'll be a smaller more intimate setting, since I've only ever seen them at festivals, or dark clubs packed with people in the depths of the city before. I'd say you should go, but not sure how realistic that is.

Cool but I think BTS without either Brett Netson and/or Jim Roth is like the Stones without Keef, The Horse without Pancho or Dinosaur without Murph or Lou... That said, I also really thought Jason and Steve were excellent additions/replacements in 2012, not that OG Scott and Nelson weren't always amazing...I've seen many of their shows, and 2015 tour was a very high level of fantastic musicianship!!

Same feeling here. I saw them on the same tour in Nîmes 06/2019 and the show was terrible, like in this video. Zero energy, they seemed totally bored and depressed.
