good news had a couple tracks on it i liked but yah it was their weakest, we were dead was most definitely better than good news ill give you that, but this still doesnt change that fact that isaac doesnt do drugs like he used so his lyrics arent those sloppy meaningful lyrics he spit out when he was tripping face and his little guitar riffs arent the same in any way and its depressing because all we have is the memories and we must cherish them for the time to come.

So far two excellent songs from one of the best indie bands of all time! Thanks again Doug! Am I the only one that thinks that Modest Mouse is the poor mans Built To Spill? By the way, I wrote this a few weeks ago and someone got super pissed off, I have nothing against Modest Mouse, it's just an expression.

dhoulmagus11 I must admit that i really liked the first two albums Modest Mouse did, even if they really souded like Buil to Spill, but yeah, unfortunately, Modest Mouse are sounding more and more weaker by the album, they are still a good band though, but i much prefer Built To Spill a billion times more!

Both great bands. Modest mouse (early stuff) feels a lot more raw and original. I feel like built to spill songs though pretty, are pretty formulaic (not always but for the most part). I feel like the frontman just told everyone in the band to play the same groove looping over and over again while he digs and gets all the cool solos and singing, it's very much a DOUG show. Modest mouse just feels more collaborative and unpredictable, (more tempo drops, key changes, and all instruments have very interesting, prominent parts).

I agree with what you say, but in Dougs defence, he has always said that this was "his" band and when he started, he wanted to have different musicians for every album he made, so he always treated Built To Spill as a sort of solo project, if you may...in the end, your right, they are total separate bands. I still can't believe they got Johnny Marr to record and even tour with them, that was fucking awesome!

Tradition? what are you talking about? There is no enemy is awesome! You in Reverse is a little boring but its artsy and creative. Ancient Melodies is just cool to look at. Keep it Like a secret is iconic and unique. Perfect from now on (my favorite) is also just really artsy and pleasing to the eyes. Nothing Wrong with Love is.... a cloud. This and Ultimate Alternative Wavers are the only album covers that I don't like and I'm already starting to get used to this one.
