So great to have this. I remember our classes at SJI Primary - we ended up in different secondary classes. Haven't walked the route since I was at secondary school.

The music (guitar) shop was on what is now Jln Tan Siew Sin... it was about a block from the old Tong Foong pickup bus station (the drop-off was on what is Jln Tun Perak)... I remember only because I bought my chromatic harmonica there. The shophouses on Jln. Hang Lekiu... Yong Leong, I think... not sure it is under the same family... Mum took me there on a couple of occasions for old fashioned roti bakar kaya and kopi that they roasted in-house... she told me my great grandfather used to take her there after church. There also used to be a small graveyard behind the church... where the new buildings are now. At 16:48 the building was there (or at least one like it with a similar brutalist architecture... Bank Bumi?)... I only remember because someone committed suicide by throwing themselves off it. Splitting my viewing and comments into two parts. Lordy, we have a lot of shared experience, don't we? Perhaps some we should never speak about! LOL!

Thanks, matey! Was the guitar shop Woh Fatt? I remember there was a road down the slope and I've been to a venue for events from a repurposed godown...www.thegodown.com.my. And I remember the trees... Yes, I think it would be interesting to walk down Hang Leikiu and connecting roads :) Cheers!

Looks like the school field has been raised several feet above where it used to be to accommodate the underground parking lot. The 70's building was part of the cable car that once ran up to the summit... where KL tower is today. I'm trying to remember what the Old Malaya building used to be... though glad they've repurposed it. We did spend a lot of time at the old Merlin, didn't we? I remember going down to Tomorrow Disco when both The Falcons and Xperiment played there. Yeah, mysticism is part and parcel of living in that part of the world. The last part of the video... I once met a cobra (about 5 feet long) on the sidewalk there... it reared up preparing to strike and I stood as still as I could... there was a minute stand-off between us... then it turned, crossed Jln. Ampang and headed down to the river. This one was a real journey back. Thanks... Cheers and adventure on!

Wow! Must have cost quite a bit to get the car park done. I can't remember how the field looked before and couldn't see if the field was raised above the car park... I can't say I've noticed the Malaya building before. Strange as I used to walk down that way... Yea, I did tell the story of you and Frankie in the vid but omitted it as I didn't think it discreet.... Cheers!

And I certainly didn't hear about your encounter with the cobra!!!

@@dathang That's right, used to be more trees there... I remember looking at Karim's tenor(?) sax under the trees...
