I've worked as a medic at rodeos. Lot's of bruises n breaks. Treated a guy who's groin was stomped by a bull like this. He died from complications a few days later related to the broken hip. Never been sure if those who participate are brave,smart, talented etc or stupid with a death wish. What ever it is in those that participate in rodeo my hats off to them. With the injuries I've seen from this "sport" there's no way you would get me in there

All I can say is that "people don't know what they don't know". Anyhow, the lay of the land, is that younger bulls learn from the older bulls. When a young bull hasn't yet learned enough to leave the arena after an outing, SOP is to send in an older, "union bull", for the younger bull to follow out of the arena. Union bulls know that there's food, water and no drama in the back holding pens, so once the ride is over, they usually leave the arena without prompting. By the end of a rodeo season, the younger bulls have usually learned all the things that make life easier for themselves and their handlers.
