Thanks for this. You've been missed. According to the scenario given in the first edition of Frank Chadwick's Volley & Bayonet, the armies at First Manassas/Bull Run were mainly armed with rifled muskets because they were the first units put into the field; shortages arising later with mass mobilisation.

I really like Pickett’s Charge rules, a kinda stripped down GdA. Good game. Sorry for your flooding issues but good that’s been solved

It's nice to see a game of PC. It has been a while since I played. (Lately it's been Team Yankee.) But I don't think you need an Infantry Assault order. There is also a FAQ on the website of TooFatLardies with some interesting changes. I noticed you deployed your artillery with your infantry brigades. We usually play with artillery brigades, which makes the Artillery Assault order more effective. But the changes affected this to. Still, it made for a better game. Sorry to hear about the flooding. At least it didn't affect the models or terrain.

many thanks and glad you've recovered from the flooding (hopefully home insurance covered that). I like these rules but am going to try and incorporate the brigade skirmish line rules from general d'armee to give more skirmisher flexibility than just whole regiments deployed.

You can probably port over the rules for light battalions forming skirmish, but ACW units didn’t have designated light companies as units in the Napoleonic era did. The entire unit was trained to adopt skirmish formation. So there wouldn’t be a brigade skirmish line per se.
