Cutting in and building road on steep hillsides can be very dangerous. And takes skill and practice. You can get in big trouble depending on how steep and type of ground. Pushing stumps trees and rocks and boulders. You could end up over the edge or hurt badly.

@@eduardgg5720 Do you think anything we humans do on this planet is good for nature? But anyways. The wood that is harvested needs to be transported somehow. You could use horses to pull every log out of the forest separately but that is uneconomical. Trucks work better and they need roads. If you space them apart a few hundred meters you can minimise the impact on the environment. Logging trails lead into the forest itself and the machines that drive on those have big tires to reduce ground pressure. And why do we need to harvest wood in the first place? Because it is a natural, regrowing and carbon neutral resource that is, in many cases, better for building sustainably for example.

Exactly. Making a mess is what hes doing. Just pushing the trees and stumps off to the side. And he might as well take down any of those on the high side and cut those banks back at a 45 or first rain, and half the road is buried. Piss poor, inexperienced operator, to say the least.
