The Bullet Boys and Skid Row opened for Bon Jovi in Dallas in the 80's. Both bands blew Bon Jovi out of the water.

Boy, for anybody who was there for cats like Duane Allman, Jimi, Cream era Clapton, Jeff Beck back in the day, you name it, this dude is barely adequate on guitar. I saw the BB in Long Beach for free due to the rental car agency that my dealership used. I thought they were just a poor man's Van Halen WITHOUT the skills. Folks need to take a deep breath sometimes.

Everything you said here is true. However the way I see it, is that guitar really is secondary for glam rock like this. This genre is all about the image, lewdness and choruses the audience can easily remember/sing along wity. Most "guitarists" from this genre can barely play a four power-chord riff and maybe do a simple "solo" type interlude. This was music for people who listen to top 40 stuff and there's nothing inherently wrong with enjoying that although I hope it didn't stop them from broadening their taste in music

And not to derail from talking about guitar, but I think the vocalist is the main selling point here anyway. He's like pre-coke sinus DLR

Tero Yli-Mäenpää Yeah but Marq sings circles around both these average vocalists. Marq was a phenomenal vocalist, competing with the best at the time.
