I'm a 41 year old purple belt. Had my first fairly problematic knee injury. A super strong and larger white belt torqued my knee inwards while in dela riva. Strained my mcl. Still not trained three weeks later. Fortunately, it only hurts from a certain angle, but for something dynamic like BJJ, I can't trust it will be stable at the moment. I'm always wary of fiery white belts, but caught caught off guard this time.

I am 35 years old, i have been doing bjj for about 4 months and i have already ended up with 3 broken ribs. A spastic kid jumped and landed with his knee right in my rib cage. It has been a miserable recovery but i cant wait to get back to training.

I find elbow, shoulder, knee, ankle and hip injuries easier to tolerate training through the pain as opposed to ribs injury. This one is the worst without long term abstinence

I was getting savage pain in my forearms and I thought it was just from pulling guard, holding onto the gi etc, recently discovered it was actualy from getting my arms bend back towards my body, eg :someone has side control on me, I've worked on forearms flexibility since and the pain is gone after sparring, just mentioning it in case it helps someone else.

25:00 calf raises are great ESPECIALLY if you're on a plane or car ride or sitting around recovering from injury. It prevents blood clots. Anyone that's had surgery is familiar with the compression stockings and the machine the squeezes your calves? That's why.

My arm was broken by a teammate attempting an Americana. I did tap, but now I'm off the mats for at least 3 months and it's gutting. I've only been training for 6 months and felt like I was just finding my way.

I'm 2 years 9 months in, the first "injury" was right away a blck belt choke me, I have a big Adam's apple, so something popped there and I couldn't talk normal for 2 weeks also hurt like a btch, but after that chokes never hurt again lol, I hurt my ribs, that hurt a lot 2 took me 2 months to heal, and now I had a grade 1 mcl tear happened with a black belt instructor, so not always is the white belts, sometimes if you don't know how to react properly to a higher belt you will get hurt. 😅

Hey guys! Recently joined BPFBJJ and am honestly super confused by the workout layout. I'm trying to do the mobility program and there are 2 warm ups and cool downs? Do I do both every time? Also, the active flexibility work and the warm up both have side lying rotations... I do the exercise twice in the same workout? Should I be doing it any differently?
@bulletproofforbjj
@bulletproofforbjj Жыл бұрын
Hey Deven, You complete warm up 1 on day 1 and warm up 2 on day 2. The reason they are structured like that so you have more variety. We encourage all our people to use the warm ups before bjj class and the cool down post class. As for the active flexibility work it can be completed on alternate days when you are not rolling. Hope that helps. - JT

I have a bucket handle tear of my lateral (outside) meniscus, my recovery time before being able to twist and bend at the same time is 6 months post surgery, with at minimum 4 months of therapy. It sucks to not be able to do jiu jitsu, I can't find any serious content on such a severe tear and coming back to bjj. I would love to see a sports therapist explain this stuff with you guys if it could ever happen. Thanks for the content keep it coming!

Question, I’m 38 but muscular and athletic. I lift at least 3 a week and do twice a week Yoga. Still I’m trying to prevent injury what is more injury prone Gi or No Gi ? And what are the most common injuries in each ? I do 2 to 3 sessions of Bjj a week minimum.

@@ryeann2567 1 year, I’m white belt 2 stripes. I feel way more comfortable in No Gi, I think in the Gi my natural athletic abilities and strength can be mitigated by others with lesser physical attributes. My way of thinking is, if I put as much work outside the matts working on my mobility, athleticism and cardio why not use it ? Besides I think the Gi hurts my neck more for all the people pulling with all their might trying to slow me down. In No Gi I get also smashed more easily by higher belts and white belts alike, while in No Gi I see only people purple belt and above can control me and submit me but the other lower belts is way harder for them to successfully submit me unlike in Gi, I also can defeat them better in No Gi and just minor bruises I get from it. But then I wonder maybe I should train more Gi to make it harder on myself lol?? 🤷

@Bulletproof For BJJ she bounced back, silver lining, incentivized me to get private health insurance, she went private, first surgery was less than a week after the injury. Gov hospital is a 90+ week waiting list, BJJ wise, that'd be me out and done.
