Thank you! My father in law just gave me his old Winchester 7MM mag. I'm new to guns and have no idea how to clean it. Its a very old rifle with a Bushnell Trophy scope. I promised to take good care of it and hunt meat for his family, this video helps!! If anyone out there knows of anything else I should do, or ways to preserve the wood parts or anything else, please let me know!! I intend to give it to his grandson someday so any preventative maintenance tips are greatly appreciated! thank you again for this great video!

Cleaning is probably the least favourite part of the shooting process, which is why it’s the most overlooked and it has the least amount of time and effort put into it. Yet, poor cleaning/maintenance is the biggest cause of equipment failure, and that failure will invariably occur at the absolute worst possible moment. Another good video; very informative. Cheers from Down Under.

Agreed... people complain about rifle issues often but don't properly maintain the firearm.

Damn and here I am loving the maintenance process of all my guns. Except the periodic re lubrication of everything, thats annoying when you havnt shot in awhile but everything is bone dry

Sorry if I missed it but how often do you clean your gun?
@Bullets4Bucks3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the gun and the type of clean but generally twice over before use once after use then let it ride until I notice a decline in accuracy... i clean the outside or reciever area more often if used for hunting

@@MikeHuntingSupplies i know with centerfire the lighter profile barrels heat up faster and the harmonics change causing a shift of impact. Also heavier barrel equals heavier rifle and a heavier rifle is more stable and easy to shoot precisely

Lighter Fluid is very good for cleaning rifle bolts as well ...
