You pay 50% of the overage back, they withhold FICA taxes, and then you pay income tax, if you need Part B that costs you extra, and you need a good gap plan. I agree. Someone on another site said since 2006 silver has outperformed gold. Really? Spot price of silver in'06 was around $15 and gold price was around $750. Since then gold has tripled and gold hasn't even doubled. You make pennies a day on silver; it will take another 50 years for silver to hit $50 if it even will. I'll stick with gold.

I subscribe to the theory that silver will be worth more than gold and quite possibly in Tims lifetime. I am actually in the process of trading some gold for silver. Just a few gold coins that have undesirable designs. This will bring my silver to over my ultimate goal. I agree with Chris Duane. Gold is for oligarchs to trade among themselves but silver holds the keys to the world. If only the public would buy more silver and set ourselves free.

Yes, we do. Silver was real money back in the 1950s and at any time prior to 1965. I remember it very well, having been born in 1949. Being raised by my parents, who were children during the Great Depression, and by grand parents who were younger adults at that time only served to reinforce the ideas that debt is bad, that money can be hard to come by at times, that saving is an absolute necessity, and that work isn't just a 4-letter word.

I appreciate Tim's take. Silver's not rare and $5000 an ounce isn't going to happen without a monetary collapse (which may happen, but I surely don't wish for that). I hope Tim has many good years left. Thanks, Yankee!

Once silver commodities temporarily reach over 800% the first ones to react will be the ones to hold all the available silver made, and the other would have to wait for more production period.

If we could get more enforcement from the CFTC with harsher penalties from the judges for spoofing, we could achieve this. The problem is that the CFTCs dedication to stopping the suppression of silver is questionable (see Rostin Benham's past comments about tamping it down), as well as their lack of manpower.

If you look at the long term charts for gold and silver youll see that when silver was around $4 an oz gold was $300 to $400 an oz. Now silver is around $28 and gold around $2400. I think those that control the prices like to keep the price ration of $100 for gold for every $1 of silver. So from this I observed that silver is about $4 to expensive for them so they created a double top on the silver chart to stunt its growth. If you loom at the movement of silver in 2016 youll see it didnt drop back to $4 but was supported around $14. I believe this support came in when silver production began to fall in 2016. If you compare the old upmoves in gold with the high spikes in silver I think you can clearly see that prices are suppressed. Around 1978 a smaller upmove in gold than whats happening now caused a huge silver spike. Anyway thought you might like to know.

It should be a given that any U.S. citizen should be able to take their MINTED U.S. Silver Eagle, (or Gold Eagle), coins to ANY U.S. bank and exchange them for AT LEAST their current SPOT VALUE in U.S. fiat dollars. WHY aren't all U.S. banks REQUIRED to do this, at LEAST for U.S. minted coins?

Its very simple - because they can't pass the relevant AML/KYC checks as most American's don't have audit / purchase trails to prove how they obtained the gold from LEGAL sources. Oh and because the govt know that they can just ban civilians from holding gold and take it by force. Make no mistake, govts are just giant criminal cartels that got so big that they legitimized themselves and were able to convince enough people to agree with them.

Silver has been a piece of swamp land since 2011/12. For over a decade we have heard that silver would soon be in the triple digits. I'm from Missouri on this one. This fellow is giving good advice to stack silver as an insurance policy. When I started to invest many years ago the the advice I was given was that 5% of my portfolio should be in metals. I kept that advice and looked at it as an insurance policy I don't think most people should up that percentage believing they are going to get rich off of silver, but to each his own..
