This was a great Finals! I grew up watching basketball in the 80's & 90's and basketball seemed tougher back then, unlike all the flopping and tick-tack fouls called today. The 90's Bulls would destroy alot of the "put-together" teams today like the Knicks, Heat, and Celtics.

one little miscue my friend, this wasn't the only finals series that had a triple overtime. Suns vs Celtics played in 3 ot's because of gar heard's amazing shot. But i agree amazing series and this was hands down the greatest Suns team i ever saw. They had the league MVP Barkley, 2 extra perenial all stars KJ and Majerle, A former all star MVP and vet PF , Tom Chambers, 2 explosive young SF's in Ceballos and Dumas, and Frankie johnson and Danny ainge off the bench. . This team was stacked.
@VMakNYC3 жыл бұрын
Ceballos was hurt and didn't play at all in The 1993 Finals. You wonder what would have happened if instead of Frank Johnson taking the shot in Game 6 to give Phoenix a possible six point lead in the last minute, if it was Ceballos, who led the entire NBA in fg % (over 55 %) in the 1992-1993 season.The guy actually had a better field goal percentage than Shaq .. Phoenix probably would have won game 6, up by four points with 45 seconds to go and a possession. Ceballos certainly held his own against Pippen in regular season, in March 1993 game holding Scottie to low fg% and Cedric scoring 27 points.

@@erikhopkins9488 Barkley not on Pippen's level? If you mean Barkley>Pippen than i agree. Pippen leading the 3peat Bulls to the 2nd round is brought up as proof of his superstar status, so what would you call KJ for leading the Suns to back-2-back WCF?
@erikhopkins94883 жыл бұрын
in 93 Barkley won the MVP. The argument isn't whether he was a better player than Pippen. The argument is which suns player was the 2nd best player and was he better than Pippen. Again, KJ is that dude but not better than Pippen.
@blo27063 жыл бұрын
@@erikhopkins9488 KJ isn't better than Pippen all-time, but the topic is the 93 Finals. Going into the 93 Finals, KJ was 4×All-NBA, 2×All-Star, Led the Suns to 50+ wins every yr from 89-92, two WCF in 89 & 90 as the number one option. KJ also avg over 20ppg and 10ast on 50% shooting for 3 straight yrs, that's Magic Johnson level. Speaking of Magic KJ Suns defeated the Lakers in the 90 Playoffs. Pippen going into the 93 Finals was a 2×All-NBA, 3×All-Star. Pippen and KJ were drafted the same yr. It looks like KJ was the better more accomplished player heading into the 93 Finals. KJ was slowed down by injuries.

2:44 These were two finesse teams going head-to-head. No real hard defense like NY. So Jordan ate them alive! NBA teams today are more like a watered down version of this Suns team. So Jordan would average well over 40-50 points today. Just like he did in this series.

The nicest way that I can say about Magic on commentary during this period is that while enthusiastic (which we should normally expect from Magic Johnson), he was none the less, extremely raw and somewhat klutzy. I think that's the challenge when you have somebody who has as big and effervescent a personality as Magic. They risk detracting from the broadcast instead of being a supplement.
