I was born in 1984 and had only the vaguest memories of Bullseye on a Sat night when I was about 9, so I couldn't even appreciate Peter Kay's piss-take of it. It's 2020 and I've got ADDICTED to it on Challenge! I've never thrown a dart in my life but it's honestly more fun and suspenseful than ANY gameshow I've ever seen. It's also such a friendly show: Tony Green is brilliantly supportive to everyone. But mostly, I'm amazed by how warm, funny, informal, natural and off-the-cuff Jim Bowen is (RIP). I'm fascinated by his ability to connect with every contestant. I can't think of any other gameshow host, even today, who could do that as well as Jim did.

I used to love watching this as a kid. Probably the best British game show there ever was. And you can never redo it because it would lose its dated charm. I tell you, the 80's and 90's were a special time. I don't think its because I was young then, I just think it was kind of the last two decades before the world went retarded.

He was earning £500,000 a year back in the early 80s, about £2m in today's money, they made about 22-23 episodes a year, so that works out in today's money at about £80,000 for half an hours work, so it's fair to say he was on about £150,000 an hour, they'd make 5 or 6 episodes at a time, with very few retakes needed. When he died it was reported he'd left £350,000, but that was just cash lying around and didnt include the joint properties he had with his wife or various business he owned, person bank accounts or savings. So when people complain that ITV and bbc executives get paid to much, dont forget the absolutely massive salaries paid to the presenter's. 90% of a shows budget goes to the presenter's, the remaining 10% goes on the cameramen, sound guy's, set designer's, floor manager, makeup and all the other's working behind the scenes.
