Seing you enjoying this show so much it makes me so happy and I even got tears of joy for you because I also started with Dragon Ball and I was watching all of the episodes when I was 11-12 and then all the dragon ball Z espisodes after high school when I was between 13 and 15! So many memories

The last time I watched DBZ series was on Cartoon Network on cable television as a child/teens. Now I feel nostalgic. It was later censored on last leg of cable television as such cartoons series are were raw and direct. Now as an adult, certain themes are relatable. I think this was better than consuming content on social media nowadays as it had quirky balance of cheap jokes and universal philosophy.

I haven't seen the original DB in such a long time, but thinking of all those crazy journeys that Goku had, mostly with Bulma back in the day, it makes me wonder if anime fans back then were as crazy as they are today with shipping and pairings and all that (I mean, "mary sue" came from a Star Trek fanfic from the 70's, so I mean.. some things are older than we thought). I could only imagine that some fans reading the manga and following the anime were pushing for Goku and Bulma to end up together at the end. The brother-sister relationship Goku and Bulma have had is just priceless. Wish modern shows had these kinds of wholesome friendships, lol.

A little information Akira toriyama was also the character Designer of Dragon Quest and many Games. So he s one of the succest Game Designers of all time plus the second succest mangaka of all time after eichiro Oda , the father of schonen. Dragon ball is really something special, i remember catching it on tv when i was very young in 95 i think i was 7 and i was instantly hooked, and thinking about it, the entire journey of watching Goku go from that little adorable goof ball to one most beloved characters today was just magical.

In fairness to Bulma, she is sixteen years old at this point, not an adult either, talking to a twelve year old boy who already - albeit in complete innocence - tried to look at her butt (looking for a tail). So it probably seemed like a legit tactic.

Love the series 😊. In the first episodes of Dragon Ball Goku is 12 yrs old, and Bulma is 16 yrs old. By the time she appears in the first episodes of dragon ball "Z" both she and Goku are complete adults.

One of Goku's funniest lines was sadly cut from the English dub, "Oh so instead of a tail, girls have an extra butt on their chest"

They censored alot of that from japanese version that I grew up with. The context in which Goku lays on Bulma was he used to do them with his Granpa Gohan. He called it sack pillow. And they cut out few scenes as well.

I'm really glad to see someone looking back on the original Dragon Ball. I decided to check them out recently, and decided I liked it so much better than Z, for its "Journey to the West"-inspired adventure story and its gags before it all became about fighting and power-ups and Super Saiyans and voice actors making constipated noises.

I consider OG DB the superior manga/anime for the same reasons. I do love DBZ but OG DB is just something special and I consider it the peak of the whole franchise. I'd also be a bit careful dropping some info from later in the franchise so she doesn't get confused.

It got censored to hell and back when it first came to NA. And they were some 4kids level censorship too. Granted this was in 95, so anime was still not well known in the US. Thank god for Metal Gear Solid and Pokemon. They really opened the doors.

The original Japanese Dub of Dragon Ball came out in early 1986, but then the English Dubbed version started sometime in 2002. Dragon Ball along with its sequel series' Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Kai(shorter remaster of Dragon Ball Z without all the filler), and Dragon Ball Super, are some of the most recognized Content in the world of Manga and Anime as a whole. Dragon Ball has So Many Interesting characters that can definitely count as unforgettable. Also the series as a whole does a great job of being a blend of Adventure, Comedy, Action, Drama, Horror, Violence, Team Work, Friendship, Suggestive Innuendo, and Life Lessons.

I mean, I understand your concerns, but keep in mind that Goku is basically, a little Tarzan, but capable of speaking thanks to his grandpa. He is very young still, and he has lived by himself for a while. Plus, it was the 80's, things were different back then, and this kind of humor was sort of common (based on what I've seen from movies and stuff from the time, I wasn't born during the 80's). Things that are inappropriate now, probably still were back then, but not many people cared so this kind of humor that might not fly today wasn't an issue back then. Goku was adorable though.

And there was electronics and machines for several hundred years.

Bulma doesn't just want a boyfriend, though. She wants the perfect boyfriend. You do make an interesting point, though. With some of the content in these early episodes, I do feel like there are people who would try to get all up in Dragon Ball's business, and see it cancelled, or something of the sort. Thankfully, it's protected by its legacy, so if anybody were to be so brazen as to try cancelling it today, those people would be utterly destroyed. Yet if it had come out today, it never would've had the chance to gain that following that would defend it to the death like we have.
