High chairs don't help your baby learn to sit either, but they are very useful. Same with this product, which I highly recommend. I use it with the tray for many eating and play activities.

I have a bumbo and baby has been using it for 3 months. Purchased not for the purpose of aiding in sitting up but as a portable chair for feeding. It is great for that, we take it to his grandparents and restaurants as he is too small for a high chair. It was worth the money for us and I would buy again.

Same. My older 2 were more around 7 or 8 months and sitting unassisted. We purchased the tray and the toy addition. We fed and occupied baby camping a lot in the bumbo.

I am glad I came across this detailed explanation about these floor seats and I agree with you but I also think it’s kinda helpful for a little time when there is nobody to look after the baby while we do some kitchen work or laundry 🧺 we can keep the baby in the seat for a while especially in small spaces where bouncers can’t be fixed. Babies love watching around while we do work but leaving them alone often bores them and we hear them cry it gets difficult to do work then so I think it can be useful but for little time and small spaces to do work

I am so grateful for all your videos! My husband and I passed on buying any baby equipment and gave our daughter as much tummy time as we could. She started crawling one week before turning 6 months old and has hit all her milestones early. She lives for floor time and tummy time. While she is still working on sitting she can sit independently for 15-30 seconds max and the topple over to crawl to a different toy. What can I say she loves to explore.
@buu.8882 жыл бұрын
That's awesome. I'm trying to do the same with my baby who's 14 weeks old. Sometimes I find my girl just wants to be upright though and look around. How did you navigate that?
@kaylyndazey21462 жыл бұрын
@@buu.888 Awe she sound like a curious one, so cute! As soon as my daughter had the proper head strength I would sit on the floor with her placed between my legs and I would support her torso by putting my hands on her ribs. Then I would place some of her favorite toys in front of her to encourage reaching, or I would read to her. I learned all these tips from this video : kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5yxaJ1pidRgq7M&ab_channel=EmmaHubbard My daughter is especially curious and loves to explore so she was army crawling before she could sit on her own for long periods of time. From 4-6 months I made sure we practiced sitting together every morning before taking her to daycare, and every evening before we put her to bed. She still prefers crawling to sitting but if she has a toy or is engaging with a caregiver she will sit without support for several minutes or until she gets bored. I also start playtime with her in a sitting position so she can continue to build strength in her core. I hope this helps. Good luck with your little one!

The bumbo is amazing . We had 5 friends plus myself who had babies at the same time .All of us going on to have 2 or 3 kids . All used the bumbo. My brothers kids used ours after. They never had trouble with anything since . A couple of them are nearing teenagers now. And are perfectly fine . If you worried about everything you would be wrapped up in cotton wool.

Baby floor chairs and high chairs are not for teaching your child to sit but it's a place for them to sit up straight with support to eat. I only use them for eating. Of course tummy time is important, but this floor seat works the same as the high chair. So both chairs are very helpful. but only use them for a small amount of time.

I’ve been using the sit me up since my baby was about 2 months and the bumbo since 3.5 months. He’s been ahead since the beginning and loves to look around in a sitting position so that’s why I use it. He’s 4.5 months right now and is already starting to sit on his own. As long as you work with them everyday I don’t see the problem in using it. I do lots and lots of floor time.
@IkambaDeVictoire3 жыл бұрын
Same here. I do a LOT of tummy time, and at 3 months my baby started rolling over. I'm not saying the information in this video is wrong, but I also agree with what you are saying Tabitha. Don't have them in the seats ALL DAY, and continue to do LOTS of tummy time. I also just recently purchased the sit me up. I'm a new mom working from home as a Medical Appeals Analyst (essentially a coder) and I have mats and baby bouncers and rockers and all kinds of things around to keep baby entertained, and help me get some work done as well so I can continue to support us both. It's like I'm also a baby daycare, or gym! Haha None of these things sit him up high enough (except his high chair) for him to play while sitting though, which he is showing more and more interest in every day. So I am going to use that when it comes in, in moderation, while continuing to do tummy time and I know everything will be just fine with my little one! Every situation is not the same. I believe when used correctly, at the right age (for your child), with caution and careful monitoring, the little ones will grow up just fine! 🙂

Same. My daughter has always preferred to be propped up so she can see everything. We do lots of tummy time and floor time and we use the floor seat which she loves and we do as well. She is almost 5 months now and can sit unassisted for a few minutes. I always recommend our floor seat, we use the fisher price one it’s our favorite. I still wouldn’t recommend to have them in it for long periods of time but in moderation is fine. Oh and our pediatrician gave the ok.

The fischer price one saved me. I admit I didn't buy it to help her sit up ....babies will eventually figure that out in their on....they won't be on their backs forever unless they have an actual developmental problem or disorder. I have 3 kids including a toddler. She still hadn't learnt to sit up...So everytime I needed to do something by myself like cooking or bathing I used to sit her in it . she hated to be on her back..and used to cry alot unless I used to hold her up. By using the seat , she would be happy for maybe 20 mins and I knew the older kids won't accidentally hurt her. Helped alot. Even now I use it when bathing ...cause I am alone at home and this way she can't crawl over all over the place and I will be watching her at all times. Now she is 8 month and cruising along the furniture and trying to stand without support. If it helps your situation it is worth a buy.

My grandson was so hyperflxible and long in the torso that it took him ages to both sit up and walk. It broke my heart to watch him try so hard. He would nearly fold himself in half backwards when he was sleeping. At the time, I was doing most of the childcare. We did not have tummytime back then. He was a very smart baby, though. What would you have advised us to do back then? He is now about 19 years old and fine, but still long waisted. He did spend a week in the NICU when he was born because he was very sick with pneumonia. The amniotic fluid had been leaking for at least a week before delivery.

Would you say that the Bumbo is a good alternative to a high chair? Simply for eating? Or not good to use at all?
@EmmaHubbard Жыл бұрын
Hi Justin, a high chair is the best option when introducing solids, as it is better to have a seat where the backrest extends past their head for support. But if space is limited and you would prefer to use a floor seat, the Ingenuity Baby Base 2-in-1 Seat is better than a bumbo. The bumbo seat tilts backwards which means the baby leans backwards and this makes it more difficult for them to use their hands to pick up food. Also the leg slots are narrower in a bumbo which means it doesn't fit the child for long at all.

Hi Emma, not sure if you get comments on old videos so posting again here I hope you don’t mind. Really hope you can help in any way- my baby turns 7 months tomorrow. I started weaning her just before Christmas by steaming and pureeing veg. She did amazingly! Spinach, green beans, brussel sprouts! Even parsnips. Then she got a bacteria infection and the trauma of hospital/injections/blood tests/oral medicine she completely stopped food. I have tried everything from letting her play with the spoon, smearing the food on the tray, eating it myself, doing baby led weaning with banana and letting her get messy. I even blended breast milk and ultimately wasted my milk. Every day I try twice at the highchair with no distractions, trying to make it fun but I’m lucky if I can get the tip of the spoon in her mouth. As soon as she catches eye of that spoon she shuts down, even letting her use her fingers or trying to put a small soft bit to her mouth. Because I don’t want to make it traumatic/force her this is as far as I can get and I can’t find any video that covers this. I really don’t want to get to the point where the doctor intervenes as I believe my baby and I can get back to where we were but I just don’t know how. Would be over the moon if you could offer any advice or do a little video as I’m sure I’m not the only mum going through a big setback. Thank you, Sarah

I love the floor seats. I live in a small space they make a great high chair for starting solids. Also my son could sit at 4 months slightly supported. However I would not use this more than 2 to 3 times a day and no more than 10 to 15min. Bc they can damage their hips. My son did fine he is 2 now and meeting all milestones. He was walking at 11 months. And yes we did use a walker lol twice 😂 he was too tall :( and flipped over so it went out the door.

You should look into getting a "highchair" that sits in the seat of a chair. They are really great for apartments and definitely better than a bumbo for baby to sit in and eat. They have a little try and everything. I found mine at the thrift store 😁

@@daphnietudor2953 I meant to say tray lol yea I don't have bumbo either. I have the fisher price floor seat and it looks more comfy imo but he gets it soooo messy if he eats in it 😂😅

I’m glad I watched this video. I’ve been thinking about buying the Upseat baby chair, but I’ve been considering everything you mentioned even before watching this. And the Upseat is CAD120, very expensive. I’m not gonna buy it, definitely. Thanks for you help!

I just assumed these were for older children as a travel booster high chair type desk that’s what I used it for when my baby brother came over before I got him proper one

Hi Emma. Would the Bumbo Multi Seat, Ingenuity baby base, or the Upseat baby seat be good options for feeding?
@EmmaHubbard3 жыл бұрын
These seats are definitely better then bumbo floor seat (as the seat does not angled backwards). If you are looking for a chair which your little one will use for the next few years for mealtimes, I would recommend you purchase a highchair over these options. In this video I go through the features you should consider when buying a high chair: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXTImnWVl7afiLM I prefer the Stokke Tripp Trapp Highchair (kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqKuYaB4jtqHmpI) or highchairs with the extreme adjustability that this highchair provides.

I did not buy the FP Sit Me Up to help my baby learn to sit. I bought it because at 3 1/2 months he started to enjoy sitting up and I wanted to see if he would like it. He loves it! He tries to move forward, he uses his arms, legs, stomach. I do not think his stomach muscles are turned off at all. He sits in that seat like a king on his throne, smiling and looking at everything. He also enjoys floor mats, tummy time, “standing” with help, and a whole array of physical things to keep him occupied.

Standing at 3 1/2? It looks to me that you only try to bragging over a huge lie or over a poor kid pushed to their limits.

My baby hated sitting in one of these chairs. It was a waste of money. Wish I had seen this video before purchasing haha.
