rather than buying a red one, you might try wrapping your existing ones with a nylon or tights in your preferred color? That is what we used to do in our theatre costume department for them :) though honestly i don't know if it would be almost the same price to buy tights as to just buy a colored hair donut...

Let me preface this by saying this is gonna sound a bit gross but stay with me. Victorian and Edwardian women used to wash their hair with an egg and water mixture. It cleans the hair but also gives it texture and grit which let them do all those super intricate hairstyles with their 3 yards of hair. Bernadette Banner literally just did a video on this if you want to give it a watch, otherwise Google will surely give more information.

I've now completed watching all 368 of your videos, working back through time to the NYX Face Awards win, and then from your first video forwards to this bumper bangs video. You are very good at your job and I'm glad you took the leap and became a full-time KZbinr even though you were scared to. It all worked out fine! You bought a wonderful farmhouse and the only downside is that you no longer sing the 'Hey Mr. Trashman' song. Not only have you entertained me, but I think you have influenced me, too: I generally don't like the colour brown, but a few days ago I was in Value Village (you guys call it Savers) and I bought two long brown coats and a long, brown, houndstooth wool skirt. Maybe I was just caught up in the changing leaves and autumn ambience, but, really, I think it was your brown bias wearing off on me. Keep up the good work.

Back in the day women had a little decorative glass jar with a lid on their dressing table to hold the hair in. Also known as a hair saver. And if you knew how to crochet you can crochet yourself a hair rat, too. I actually tried to do this when I first started doing vintage hair styles, and the yarn I had at the time was to light and the yarn poked through. Plus back in the early 2000s hair donuts/rats were not as easy to buy or find like they are these days. None of the Walgreens or Dollar stores carried them like they do now. And I went to a superbowl party that night my church was having at some ones house. And a woman I just met was really liking my 1940s hair. That she took her hand and pushed the sticking out yarn rat I had in my hair.🤤 It totally caught me off guard and she was literally going on and on about my hair and clothes. Turns out she was an extra in the movie The Note Book, and she really really missed dressing 1940s, now I understood why she went on the way she did. And a couple of months later I joined her women's bible study, she turned out not to be as creepy as she seemed when we first met.

Love this tutorial! I have not been able to get bumper bangs mastered. Its always hiding the ends that is the problem, and I get those weird long hair pieces on the ends that are just not working with everything. I will definitely have to try doing some rolls on the side to hide that! If you ever want a not quite so thick hair rat, you can unroll the doughnut type ones and remove a little of the bulk. I've even used this to make small short ones that help give victory rolls and other 40's styles a lot of height.
