Bun (Brad Carlson) is the epitome of a CLASS ACT. It takes a real human being, a true professional, to come and speak to young kids who have NO IDEA WHO HE IS...But...yet, he communicated and told them his story, his life and the TRUTH. This is must viewing for others in the "Music Biz" who need to come back down to earth and realize fame is fleeting. He is so brutally honest and so funny. I could listen to Bun read the phone book. His Chicago "accent" is the kicker...."and all that STUFF." Love it!

I saw them in the summer of 78 when I was but 16. I already had their first two lps. First three are their best. Plucked one of Nielsen's guitar picks off the arena floor. Had some zany cartoon drawings on it. Wish I still had it. Not many people I knew knew who these guys were. Felt I was ahead of the curve. Great memories. Nice guy. Honest.

I hope all these kids got to see Bun E. inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. He is so laid back and unassuming, you would never know that he is a world-class drummer that was every bit the rock star as any of their heroes - just in a different time. Seeing him being inducted would probably make this presentation seem surreal. Carlos knocked this out of the park. Just like all his work - well done.

As a professional drummer, I can say that learning to play other instruments improved my drumming due to A: Better timing. B: Better understanding of music and mood. Also after being self taught for 3 years I took a lesson. Lessons are great. I was actually a better drummer self taught than the teacher who gave me the lesson, but he was able to clue me in on the following: A: How to properly count all patterns. B: How to properly hold my sticks. So when bunny talks about the value of a proper musical education, he telling you the truth. Like I said, I was more skilled than my teacher, but the small but CRUCIALLY IMPORTANT things he WAS able to teach me improved my drumming immensely.

Bun E. Carlos is an awesome human being and an excellent drummer. I was fortunate to see Cheap Trick in concert in 1979, on their debut album tour with the hit "I Want You To Want Me." They put on a great show. I remember Rick Neilson brought out his five necker Hamer checkerboard guitar. That thing's got to be made out of balsa wood to not break his back. LOL
