G Day Lance, on first inspection that looks remarkably clean, fingers crossed it's like that after the wash, Watch your stew yesterday and had a few birthday drinks, 66 yesterday, pension age in the UK so officialy retired now, by the end of the video couldn't comment due to intoxication. as my teachers used to say, Barry must try harder. cheers Lance great video Barry

Thanks 👍Happy Birthday Barry! Pension age here is 67 but if you have any money at all they want you to be self funded, which is how we will have to do it.

@@BundyBearsShed Hi Lance, my brother who lives in Perth WA came up against this last year, when they were told you've got too much money

Thank you very much Lance! We are all learning a lot, and I'm saving this playlist for future reference. My very neglected MF65 is going to need all this maintenance soon :). We look forward for the next videos. Greetings from Uruguay!

I have a '58 MF 35 with a clicking Low 1st and R gears not in other gears (suspecting idler needle bearings rotted or broken idler tooth, clicks about once every four to six foot tractor movement, sold to me as a parts tractor but I've refurbished it to working again, following many of your videos) and will need to do a transmission teardown next spring. I already did a trans rebuild on my '55 TO35 (the smallest but I think it was the hardest working tractor on the farm when I was a kid, bought new to the farm back in the day) that had shifter lockup and revealed some spline+gear spalling on the set Ferguson upgraded in production a few months later (build date indicates May 55 and trans upgrades happened in Aug 55 or so); all following your 65 transmission series since it was much the same and really helped. So not only are you saving tractors, you're certainly helping us save more of them.

Great to see you back on the 65 Lance. Perhaps did more road than cultivation work. Anyway, health to enjoy. Cheers, Paul.

It was a sugae cane haul out tractor I believe so probably a lot of road work. the last 34 years fo its life it was on a horse property with a slasher on the back.

Great stuff Lance, back on the 65! On my mk1, if I grab the top of the rear tyre and I give it a good shake perpendicular to the chassis, there's quite a few mm of back and forth play - it feels like the bloody wheel is hanging on by its fingernails. I'm wondering what part of the final drive might be worn to cause that - maybe that cone, or maybe the thrust washers are missing (or turned to dust) - any thoughts on what to look for in there? Apart from the knowledge of how to get it to bits, I think a big part of the experience that I'm missing is being able to look at all of the individual bits and judge what might be serviceable and what is lunched. You've inspired me to take it to bits and have a gander. Cheers Mate.

I will have a video soon on how it works and what to look for. It will be a shorter one but hopefully take the mystery out of it aall.
@michaeluk2567Ай бұрын
By the way, how would you clean up all of the slimy bits "in the bush" - i.e. like me, without a parts washer. Any tips? 👍👍
@BundyBearsShedАй бұрын
We would always carry a cut off 20l oil drum and a stiff bristle parts washing brush and use either diesel, kerosine or petrol, depending on what we had with us and where we were. We did carry a petrol air compressor theough which was a big help.

Bit off topic but what's your opinion on cans on mf35's. Trying to convince the father to get one as it'd be outside a lot topping
@BundyBearsShedАй бұрын
Cabs? I think one should be fine, hard to find though I would imagine.

Bwteen left to right and right to left, flipping, you can reverse everything from appearances.
@BundyBearsShedАй бұрын
Yes it looks like it except for the axles with the diff lock I would imagine. I have not checked that yet.

One to get the marking pen out. I suppose you can always identify the wear side when it comes
@BundyBearsShedАй бұрын
Yes that is what I was planning on doing, I have washed it all and it does look to be in good condition.
