But fyodor never uses it as a last ditch ever, he uses it to put someone out of their misery and another time to install fear into everyone.

Idk why they had to make Dostoevsky be the inspiration for a villain. Hes one of my favorite authors and it just feels like the writers mischaracterised him as a death loving kill all the sinners type. Dostoevsky wrote a lot about infinite mercy and love and critiqued the Roman Catholic Church and was a devout member of the Russian Orthodox Church. He's like CS Lewis but because he wasnt writing children's books he didnt shy away from the reality of suffering.
