I’ve been binge watching your videos. I live in Alaska, have hunted my entire life, but this year my son and I are going on our first crossbow hunt this November in Indiana for white tails and can’t wait. I’ve got the Killer Instinct Boss 405. It’s a budget crossbow, but I’m hoping it’ll serve me well and if so I’m sure I’ll upgrade. The reason your channel is my favorite is 1. You’re a family man first and foremost, which I absolutely respect and 2. You’re genuinely excited by each of your deer. It doesn’t have to be a monster buck to get your blood pumping, it’s about the thrill of the hunt. This buck was beautiful, AND getting to harvest it from the ground over Doughy was an experience I’m sure you won’t soon forget. Thanks a lot for taking the time to create and edit these videos.

Great hunt. I treestand hunt, popup blind hunt. But the most fun I get is hunting from a makeshift brush blind. I took a great 9pt 1 hour after carving out a brush blind overlooking a bean field. It was 2pm and he never knew I was there. Very satisfying knowing you outsmarted them at a game they usually win.

I recommend you invest in StealthCam trailcameras. The higher end models are no-glo so at night the deer don't notice the cam flash. Also you can mount the camera higher on the tree to hide it better from the deer. Btw great buck with an even better story 👍

This is my favourite hunting show simply because it's more realistic to what hunting really is. It's not some high fence operation where a celebrity hunter is shooting some dumb big buck that's been feeding off a feeder his whole life. He's not always successful and he learns along with you, and when he shoots even a small doe it's more enjoyable and feels more real than those guys holding their 200 inch livestock bucks.

Hey Rich, just love the videos, that is exactly how I hunt. Still hunting on the ground, public land, no blind, no feeder, etc... took a button buck at 21 yards and a 3 year old doe at 22 yards this year. Yes, it is very important that one stays absolutely still when on the ground, I use a "hammock seat" to tie up to a tree, try to "brush it in" best I can, and wait for the deer to come to me. Of course, you try to play the wind as much as possible. Haven't seen much since Thanksgiving, been way too hot here in Texas. Have some videos in my channel also. Won't give the name, this is your channel, not mine. Anyway, appreciate your effort and work, BTW, am thinking of trying "saddle hunting" next season, what do you think?

@@Deathbybunjie Thanks for responding....Yes, it would be nice to shoot, considering I don't know if previous owner took care of it. I went to look at it again, and it has some fraying on the string I didn't notice before, and the rail looks way more scratched up than it should. There's plenty of time till next deer season, so I think I'll save some more coin and get a new one. I really enjoy your vids and am learning a lot before I even get out there. Rock on...

@joelmcmahan73863 жыл бұрын
A decoy is the only thing I have never used. Only reason I don’t is where all I hunt is game or public land. Just worry about another hunter, thinking I’m a deer. I have looked at decoys that fold up, but they don’t like life like. Wish a company would make a blow up decoy. Also I enjoy useing arrows I make up. Congratulations on your buck. I’m curious as to why a single hunter shoots 7 deer in one season. Do you eat that many? Or have deer over populated your hunting area .
@Deathbybunjie4 жыл бұрын
One of those was a Sika deer, only about 15 lb of meat. All of the meters in my freezer or in canning jars. We started making jerky this year, also. My family has gone through four deer a year on several different years. 7 is the most I've ever shot, and I doubt we'll get through all of it in one year but we'll sure try LOL. It is vacuum-sealed and in jars, so should last 2 years if need be.
@Bowfella4 жыл бұрын
What do you think about deer rack related regulations in your area? Imho seems unrealistic and can cause a lot of mistaken kills. During the last half hour of legal light you can barely tell if a mature buck is even a buck at all, let alone counting the points. I shot an 11-point buck that I thought was a doe until he got within 45 yards of me! And I thought he was a small 8-point until I actually recovered him. Also the rack on a deer doesn't always tell the maturity of that buck, I've seen plently of small messy racks on huge old bucks meanwhile I've seen 8 points on bucks that looked barely 2 years old. That's why in Ontario you can get split tags (buck/doe tag) so hunters aren't penalized for an honest mistake from ridiculous expectations. Just my two cents.
@Deathbybunjie4 жыл бұрын
I'm okay following antler Point restrictions if they are in place. It seems odd to me that sometimes people complain when you shoot a deer that is totally legal, however. If it's too small, change what is legal LOL. Some people are never happy haha.
@Bowfella4 жыл бұрын
@@Deathbybunjie Exactly! Someone always has something negative to say when you're a successful hunter. It's jealousy, they're just bitter they either saw no bucks or were foolish enough to pass on one that size. They couldn't give two licks about "what's good for the population" in reality they only want to kill mature bucks for the rack (which is why they go off the antler point system and not the deer's weight). I guarantee you if older bucks didn't grow antlers they'd be killing every spike they laid eyes on. It's legal so they can kiss it.
