After sitting for 11 days in SW Ontario, I did not see a deer. After picking up my hide yesterday (Dec 30) I was driving down the road and I watched 5 does run into the same wood.

Hey Rich, Congrats on that doe! My Xcal 308 short is similar in speed to old Bunjie and I shoot 175 4 blade fixed Tooth of the Arrow xl. I have had nothing short of 100% success on the last 8 white tails I’ve connected with. They all went down in less than 10 seconds aiming straight up the front leg on a perfectly broadside shot. The heart is right there also which helps. That shoulder bone we all try to avoid is actually in front of the leg so don’t worry. Keep up the great work and Be safe!

Your food plots seem to do exactly what they where supposed to do and that was to bring the deer into range of your crossbow. Awesome job taking an archery deer in the gun season. Well done Rich. Genevieve looked like she was. Skinning the deer spine down, I’ve seen that done down south. 👍

Rich, congrats on your doe. She'll be mighty good eating. Btw, a belated Happy Anniversary! I'm an avid hunter (crossbow and gun) in SW Michigan and watching your video gave me another example of how small the world is. My wife and I have been married for 37 years, coincidentally on October 27th as well. That is too cool. Enjoy you and Genevieve's exploits and successes in the woods and all the useful info regarding crossbows. Last year I upgraded to a Centerpoint Amped 415. Like yours it's very quiet and super fast. Hey Rich! What ryegrass did you use here? I agree, perrenial rye isnt the best, but I have trouble growing mostly anything else at my place. We have lots of invasive weeds like Japanese Stiltgrass in our area. Other perennials like Clover and Chicory are great for deer but they dont grow in thick enough, and the stiltgrass quickly takes over. And for annuals, the stiltgrass and other weeds grow in faster than the oats and other annuals like rye. The perrenial sweet ryegrass grows in thick and stays, and I do get deer eating it. Got my buck this year after he spent 20+ minutes grazing it
@Deathbybunjie2 жыл бұрын
Congrats on the buck! I just used a bag or two of Evolved Harvest Throw & Grow, easy stuff.

Our deer come and graze the rye grass every night. The field is adjacent to our road so they don’t graze during the day there but, sit a little bit in the woods and they start coming out right around when legal hunting time ends. It’s perfect. But, I gave up 4 mins before end of light and took a piss. BUSTED 😳🙄 One in the herd blew and a second later they bolted.

Nice doe be good eating there! Yes I have started to aim just behind the front leg just behind the deer elbow. At first it seemed low to me but if they start to jump the string they drop a bit for a perfect lung shot and if they don’t move I end up with a perfect heart shot! 😉 So did you get to use your early season tag on that doe? I know here we can.

The curse of bunji, It is funny how magical thinking gets in our brains. I missed a deer, couldn't find any blood, I later shot a coyote and dragged it out of the woods. Next day I saw the blood trail, that could only be the coyotes blood since it exactly where I dragged it. Yet my mind raced thinking it was the deer I missed. Camped out on the side of a mountain through muzzle loader season and gun season. I also camped out with 2 grands did not see any deer. My game plan has been to shoot the first legal deer that walks by. I finally got a doe. I was 3 cars behind a truck who hit a doe on a back road in Ar. I have spent 16 days on the side of a Mountain. I had to pull off the road not to run over the deer I stopped and put her in the CRV. I Called Game and fish and reported the kill. Good eats.
