Polish are World Famous for their sarcastic commentary, I remember my walks with my Grandfather during WWII, he immigrated to the USA from Eastern Europe in the 1880s, in addition to Germans he hated Russians. More than once he told me, a young boy at the time, "A DEAD Russian is a GOOD Russian!" After WWII, the Germans left Poland, the Russians didn't for decades, the Polish will never forget or forgive the Russians, especially for the Katyn Forest Massacre!

My brother recently found some family 'war relic's' in our father's estate. They need to be destroyed so that atrocity is not perpetuated. 😂 😂😂 If it wasn't for all the real atrocities, destruction and suffering caused by this war, I could almost enjoy this blossoming of humour, ever since the first tractor meme... It is very relieving though that in these dire times there is also palpable healing among nations who were enemies in WWII. As a German in his fifties I never thought I would see any military engagement of my country in Europe ever again, or even hear Poland of all nations giving us a verbal boot in the butt to join forces against Russia 😳 It feels so good to be on the right side of history for once and being allowed to join in laughing and sniggering with all the hilarious pranks and fun against a warmongering Russia with it's mindset still clinging to some long since rotten glory of the past. Displaying a damaged Russian tank in front of the Russian Embassy in Berlin, its barrel pointing at the building on feb 24 this year almost made *me* having to change pants... I so hope that all of Europe will install a new V day soon, when friends and foes of the past together will have helped Ukraine get back their territory, sovereignity and freedom. I was watching some of the Russian parade live, but like most of the marching participants were pointed out being cadets and not the fully formed actual soldiers. They were led by old time leaders of their units, but it was very obvious of the age differences. When they panned the TV to show Putin, you could see young kids dressed in uniform behind him, not the older Generals and military officials that they used to have. The most obvious on display here was that through Putin and his leadership, the Russians have lost generations in wars called for by Putin that took away those in between the Very OLD and the Very YOUNG. Two generations of men fighting wars for Putin, not Russia have been lost.

To be fair, it's my understanding that this particular tank leads the parade every year, as symbolic of the conflict the parade honors. However, in previous years, the T-34 has led a column of modern battle tanks, APCs and rocket launchers, accompanied by flyovers of planes and/or helicopters. This year, it led a pathetic patchwork of trucks and other support vehicles. No tanks, no rocket launchers and no flyovers. They're all either deployed in Ukraine or destroyed.

I commend the Polish people in their opposition to the Russian Victory Day celebrations in Poland. If Russia wants to celebrate its "VICTORY" then surely the Polish people can commemorate the murders perpetrated by the Russians when they invaded in 1939 and again in 1945! My country does not celebrate any wartime victory but rather have a public day to remember the service and sacrifice of servicemen for their country and our freedom. Our commemorations are open to all nationalities including old war-time enemies as we all suffered loss in serving our respective countries. No one should celebrate or glorify war and everyone should remember the cost of Imperialism.
