Bunnings Lowlander 150 muck spreading!
We are spreading muck in our fields before spring barley. This is a mixture of horse muck and different poultry muck. We are spreading it at 6 tonne/ha
This spreader is hired from Ben Burgess (our local dealer) and it is a brilliant bit of kit!

Hey there! I am doing a school project regarding agriculture in Norfolk, England. I was wondering what some ways farmers in your region go about doing soil conservation. What you are doing in this video is a good example, but I was wondering if there were other things you do to help keep the soil from eroding and keeping it healthy for your crop. Thanks!

We are practicing regenerative farming methods. We min-till meaning that we never like to plough as ploughing damages the soil structure. Also ploughing creates a lot of soil which often leads to erosion. This is something we have been doing for the last 20 years, and every year our land is getting better! We never like to leave any bare soil. This means that over winter we always grow a cover crop. Our cover crop usually consists of multiple species which all root different. This puts roots in the soil at all different levels which helps drainage over winter. Cover crops also provide natural cover which prevent erosion. As we min-till we don’t remove the root canal’s enabling the following crop to root down the previous canals. We also have a very good rotation including grass and legumes which creates a lot of organic matter and increases the fertility of the soil. Also, by growing cover crops and spreading muck we increase the organic matter in the soil. This increases the bacteria in the soil which all help plant growth.
