This hit me so hard I couldn’t go past hearing about her end. Stories such as this touch my heart in the Most sensitive area that I have. I have to begin with praising you for being such a beautiful soul, and for keeping your heart and home open and accommodating to such pets. The world desperately needs more people like you! Now to where it hurts, when an animal is born with a deformity or disability, it’s different because they never knew what they “lost”, and to them it’s natural. But when an animal loses an ability such as this, you can see the confusion and pain in their eyes as to “why isn’t this working?” And it hurts me to see so badly. It’s about the most beautiful thing as to how your other bunny took such Amazing care of Hannah. They absolutely know what and when things are what they are. It’s a credit we don’t acknowledge nearly enough. Their senses border on precognition, and it’s also a beautiful aspect of pets to see them care for one another. Dogs for cats, mamma cats for puppies, I’ve even seen birds that would help cats. Mice who would sleep soundly on a cats back. Truly incredible things, totally contradictory to widespread opinions and beliefs. Thank you for sharing this even though I am wiping tears away, I can still see well enough to type. Truly an amazing story, A privilege to see.

Thank you, Jack. You words are a soothing balm to my soul. I have been so attacked and maligned for standing up for animals, especially those of the rodent family. it's always angry accusations such as "don't you know the damage they do to humans," and "why don't you do something for better animals such as elephants and whales." Yes, I do know the damage rats can do, and I have taken care of this humanely, even though they did cause destruction. The thing to keep in mind is to prevent letting them enter your home in the first place. I had rats living in my attic for twenty years, and they did destroy some telephone lines, but I couldn't bear to destroy them; I could hear the babies squeaking up there!! When we had the roof redone, they left, and I made sure to check each and every nook and cranny of entry to the house to keep them out. Plus, my pockets have always been open to all, and I advocate and speak out where I can't physically help ALL species of animals. I have spent my life taking care of too many species to name here, and a lot of them have been special needs souls. Not to mention that my career as a nurse puts me in a position to be an advocate and helper of humans, as well. Bless you for your kind and humane heart!

Having experienced the wonder of bunnies, I totally know what this video is about. They are so underestimated as companions, yet a bunny kiss feels like velvet, and they are incredibly intelligent. To think they are still used extensively for scientific research makes me sick. Us humans have a lot to answer for in adding to the suffering on this planet. If we are not killing each other, we are thoughtlessly killing every other species we can. All animals matter, they are our cousins. In memory of this bunny and blessings to her helping bunny friend.

sometimes testing on animals is a necessary evil. Think of it this way: you need to develope a cure to a termianl illness. You can sacrifice 1000 bunnies and save 10 children, or you can seek alternative ways of development and ultimately let 10 kids die. Which one do you choose? In reality this is never as clear cut nor as simple, but we do get close to questions like this. In completely detached scenarion, completely speculatively, you might be tempted to say "well animals are equal to us" or similar, but in reality when you really have to take responsibility for your decisions you most certainly will sacrifice those poor bunnies or rats or whatever.

When my bunny Skye was getting old, she went blind and developed some milder mobility issues. At the time I was also fostering bunnies and had a cute lionhead that I was fostering. Bunnies are hit or miss on whether they bond with another bun, and none of the others liked Skye and she hated them, but this one was different. One day, my foster bunny was running around my apartment and hopped into my bunny's cage and decided to stay there. Obviously I took him out, but he kept going back. If he couldn't get in the cage he would lay beside of her on the other side of the barrier. They immediately bonded. Eventually I let them live together full time, and he helped her stay warm and clean during the last six months or so of her life. Skye would sit on top of him and I think it felt better on her joints. He was very patient and loving towards her. When she passed I was unable to have another bunny through my grief so I let him be adopted by another family, which he was, and also he bonded with their bunny. I also put money towards whatever the family wanted to buy him when he was adopted because he did mean so much to Skye.

Finally someone said it. I was like 🤔🤔🤔🤔. Poor Hannah. I that’s awful going under for a procedure and come out paralyzed
@tamara88722 жыл бұрын
It may be paralysis caused by E. cuniculi. A lot of rabbits are infected by this as early as in the womb, but don't show any symptoms. However, it may become active when the rabbit is under a lot of stress. A teeth problem that required a visit to the vet could certainly trigger it. It affects the nerves and paralysis of the hind legs is one of the most severe forms. The typical treatment is actually quite simple and cheap: atleast a month of fenbendazol. The real challenge is keeping the rabbit eating and drinking while the medication does it job, force feeding it if necessary. That may sound cruel, but if a rabbit stops eating, the digestive tract will slow down and eventually stop, often in as little as 24 hours. This will cause damage to their organs, ultimately leading to death.
@Solkard2 жыл бұрын
Took my little bunny to get fixed and Vet also did an oopsie on the anesthesia and killed her.
@tamara88722 жыл бұрын
@@Solkard Anesthesia on small creatures is notoriously difficult. On top of that, animals sometimes have undiscovered medical issues that mess with the sedation. One of the most heart-breaking examples at my shelter of choice when two males in the litter had a bad reaction and died within minutes of the anesthesia being administred. This was an experienced vet, trusted by rabbit shelters and rescues, doing a very routine procedure. Maybe your vet really did make a mistake though, some vets just aren't good with rabbits because it's often not much of a part of veterinary school. Tip for anyone who has a rabbit that needs to undergo surgery: ask the vet if you should stop feeding it before surgery. If they say yes, find another vet right away, because that vet does not know what he's dealing with. Rabbits aren't physically capable of puking and they need to keep eating, because a long period without food will shut down their digestive system, which can quickly lead to organ failure and thus death.
@tamara88722 жыл бұрын
@PipeRhymes If the vet didn't bring up this possibility when they saw the paralysis, the vet is at fault.

They needed to show Bella Hannah's body, so she understands that she has died. That's what my aunt (who is a vet) told us to do when my cat's brother died, because he was looking everywhere for him. He got depressed for about a month, and spent days after his brother's death sat in the corner facing the wall, but we showered him with love and eventually he cheered up. That was about 10 - 15 years ago now. It would also be good if they got another friend for Bella. They should introduce her to several bunnies to see which she gets on with best. Bunnies pair up for life, and they're social animals who need to have a partner.

😍😍😍 I love what you did for your baby, Hannah and Bella helping her also(it makes me cry as I write this). You and Bella made her last days so joyous, you will be blessed for your love and humanity towards a living creature that was a helpless and innocent soul. Stay blessed and safe. Peace🤗🤗🤗

This is very sad but very inspiring at the same time. This little bunny had a very good life and all were blessed to have had each other. Thank you for sharing this story.

Thank you for not giving up on Hannah. You showed such love and compassion towards her by accommodating her needs. Many would have probably given up or not have taken the time to go out of their way for a bunny who could not walk. For anyone to think that animals don't have emotions or can't feel pain, think again. The compassion that Bella showed towards Hannah was beautiful. I really believe that what you give is what you get back. If you show love then you get it back.💞🐰🐇

Oh, this story is a tear jerker. Makes me think of my dwarf rabbit who passed away almost 40 years ago. She was a beloved family member.😢Thankfully Hannah had loving pet parents and a wonderful sister. Looks like Bella is very caring and motherly. I hope you gave her another bunny friend to love.

Thank you so much for helping Hannah live her best life! You are truly amazing people! My neighbour dropped my bunny whilst caring for him and paralysed him many years ago… I wish we’d had wheelchairs for pets back then! But he made best friends with our German shepherd and our German shepherd groomed him each day, we gave him bottom baths which he loved and snuggles were his favourite pastime. We knew when it was his time to go to sleep he stopped eating and stopped showing motivation for life. special needs buns need people like you! When you are ready maybe you could help another special needs bunny

I didn’t know bunnies could be that smart. This video has changed my view on them. I hope to perhaps be the dad of one. Thanks for sharing.

They seem to be really socially intelligent? Like they'll form strong bonds with each other, but I'm guessing because wild rabbits live in very social communities.

My brother's dog was the 8th litter from the mother and born weak. Half his litter died by the third week and most of the rest of the half died in their sleep for no apparent reason within a few months. Masu couldn't climb, had difficulty walking and couldn't run. He was also always tipping over, harmlessly but always for weak reasons, and apparently all he needed to gain strength was to continuously shove him off the coach and help him back up as he's praised. He's 8 now and the last of his litter, able to freely jump into the trucks bed and happily sparing with the two year old half pit on a regular basis
