What a beautiful girl!! My daughter got bit by her friends cat. The tooth went right into the joint capsule. She ended up in the ER on IV antibiotics 8 hours later!! She was deathly sick for about a week and that hand took forever to get back to normal. Cat bites are nothing to mess with. My daughter is still a cat lover and a Mom of two kitties.

Black cats are definitely beautiful. A feral female Tortie had a litter of 3, one was a beautiful black kitten. I already had the mom, and 3 kittens from another feral cat. I just couldn't keep one more...sure wanted to keep the black one though. But my vet took the 3 kittens and found them good homes.

Because she was always indoor outdoor and used her clothes a lot so I never had to worry about them. I feel terrible that I didn't notice. My most recent cat was really into being held, cuddled, etc, except at the vet's office where he would turn into an inconsolably angry devil child. He was a rescue, his front feet had already been declawed. When he would try to use his front feet as if he had claws, his vet would move her hand away. She explained that it is important to respect the intention - if you disregard it and "manhandle" the cat because he doesn't have front claws, the cat will escalate his anger. In the cat's view, since the claws are apparently ineffective, he'll turn to biting. So if you want a cat that bites immediately anytime they're upset, just disregard that they're declawed in the front (or at all, I'd think). So she'd respect his intention to claw her, and would take safer measures like wrapping him in a towel in order to give him a shot or draw labs, dental work, etc (he was too old to sedate for dental work - she'd make him into a burrito, and do as much as he'd tolerate even if it was 1 minute).

If you have a house where not everything is white and brightly lit, black cats tend to very easily disappear and blend into what looks like empty space. And then you only see their eyes floating in a literal void. That's why they are called voids. And I'd argue that the gorgeous rusty mane on this one maybe disqualifies her from actually being a void.

I work in the OR, and when people come in to the ER with cat-bites (especially on their hands) they get bumped up on the urgent-surgery-list because there is such a high risk for infections. We immediately want to open up the wound, clean it out, cut out any loose skin (in many instances that won’t heal anyways), and sometimes actually open up the skin all along several fingers and manually clean the tendons. So yeah, always take cat-bites very seriously👏🏻

Really? I had a gorgeous Tonkinese who was mostly the sweetest cat. Every now and then, the Siamese would emerge, and she was a biter. One day she bit my hand hard and it bled everywhere. I was sleeping at the time. The next morning, my hand was double the size. I went to a doctor who was shocked my cat did that. They just gave me antibiotics. It was OK.

I got a deep cat bite on the webbing between my thumb and pointer. ( I was catching a stray who had a wound and was evading capture via cage. I had to befriend. I was able to get him help.) I went to the hospital with a red swollen hand. And started loosing mobility finger by finger. And redness tracking down my arm. The hospital offered me painkillers but I already taken the same at home. I waited 7 hours before they gave me a tetunus shot and antibiotics and sent me home.

Really? I got bit in the face and just got help washing my face with a wash cloth, some antibiotics, and a rabies shot. I ended up waiting quite awhile cuz it ended up being busy for a Wednesday night. My face did swell horribly to the point that it was very uncomfortable to eat for a few days. Would not recommend getting bit tho. Still very horrible.

@@dbasstij512 i imagine it depends on location, severity, etc. the thing w cat bites is just that even one single bite that draws blood and doesn’t even go as deep as most dog bites would can get a really bad infection within a day or two so you really just cannot wait at all on getting medical attention and have to go immediately. they’re also very small with mainly just the deep punctures from their canine teeth so the bacteria gets in deep and is difficult to clean out bc the opening is so little. if you’re bit by a dog as long as it’s not super severe you might not even need to go to the hospital if you don’t need stitches

One of my cat is a rescue, abused for years, and he can be quite reactive in certain situations. He has already bitten 3 persons to blood (me included), and I was the only one not getting and infection. Cat scratches and bites can make nasty scars too (my right forearm can testify), so yeah, being careful is the right thing to do

The problem with seeking medical treatment when your cats bites you is that the physician may report it to animal control. Then you have to deal with whatever local regulations there are about biting animals. Even if it is your vaccinated, non-roaming, non-vicious cat.

Yep…antibiotics were prescribed by the doctor at immediate care, and I came out okay. Bought a “pill pusher” on Amazon to save my fingers…and that worked like a charm.

What a beautiful void kitty 🥰 Cats go from 0 to 10 really quick compared to dogs (in my very limited experience of bathing both pet species). During baths, my one cat will jump onto and climb my neck and shoulders to get onto my back to avoid me reaching him. He'll cling for dear life, I have to wait until he jumps down to get him. It's like trying to grapple a stick of butter with wet, soapy hands. 😂

She is so beautiful ❤️😍 Totally understandable with the no bathing. She really didn't need it as you explained. Something I learned about cats is that they worry if food is safe to eat. If they don't have tubes at home they may shy away from tubes. The secret is if a cat sees you eat it they will decide it is safe. So if you"pretend" to eat the tubes they may decide it's safe. Weird I know but I read it in a cat behaviorist/vet article about 5 yrs ago. I have seen it ring true with my own cats. I just do the (1 yard fake out aka/ pretend) and they usually will eat something they are shy of. Another recommendation if You are just brushing a kitty or doing nails is to take a towel from home and set them on it. Say the blanket from their carrier as long as they didn't go potty obviously. Cats get upset about smells they don't recognize. They also fear they are at the vet or that a dog may be around. The towel from home works great for my cats when they go to the vet. I just take a clean towel and rub it on my hair, neck, and clothes and put it in the carrier. Then lay them on it at the vet. It seems to calm them down right away. I used to work at a Veterinarian Diagnostic Lab so I picked up lots of tips and tricks and I'm also a voracious reader. My sis once got bit by the neighbors indoor/outdoor cat. The Worst situation imo. My mom said you are going to the Dr now. She cleaned it right away. While getting ready to leave within less than 20-30 minutes by the time they left she was already infecting! It was terrifying to see it go that fast. I never think anything but understanding and respect when you talk about not wanting to get bit or scratched. Dogs are dirty too but cats are digging and re-digging in the same car litter. Cat claws can be very germy too. Take Care, 😊

Ahgrah! Cute overload. I was able to actually watch it smiling. These are highly loyal cats. Docile timid nature reminds me of my Feral girl I had for 19 yrs. She died a few weeks ago. I am at peace for the first time. I miss her and cry so much when I do break. Also helps her pawprint and a few little things in a nice matching bag. She is hung at the foot of my bed where she slept. My Princess and this sweet gal would of gotten along. They would respect each other. 😊❤

So sorry for the loss of your lovely girl, I lost one at 19 not too long ago & while it's a good age for a cat it doesn't make it any easier for those of us left behind. They take a piece of our hearts when they go, bless them.

@Amberle38 it is so hard after 19 years with her. I still have the makeshift sliding gate with the backing of 2 shelves. I forget she is gone until I see it. No more Hewwo Mama. She was a verbal sheesh talk talk talk, and if you insulted her, she would argue it! 😆 Best things are hard to let go of. I swear at times I can feel her jumping at the foot of my bed. She was by my side through every crappy thing. I am at peace because she gave me a proper bye. She was ready. It feels good I did the right thing. Some days, I start to cry. There was so much pain, but I chose to remember her for the beauty she was. It makes me smile. I know you can relate. Our babies were the same and are now running through the wild flowers in their heaven.

Our polydactyl, Loki, has dew claws on her back feet. She also had a claw that wasn’t “attached”. It was just growing from skin between her many toes. The veterinarian agreed it was a problem looking for a bad time to happen. The useless claw was removed during her spay. I watch her toes to make sure all continues well. Those rear dew claws are my only concern.

She reminds me so much of my black cat, Jasmine. We got her when she was an itty bitty kitten from one of my pre-school classmates, who had found her alone in their backyard. We had to put her down in April of 2023 due to her having leukemia, but she lived a good 13-14 years with us. Trixie has the same big-eyed look and fluffiness that Jazzy had

My Queen purred the whole time I tried to clip her claws, then while I was holding her paw, she twisted away from me and gave the saddest cry. I will next place her on top of the dresser so she can't twist away into the wall. She is getting older and doesn't play as much because her nails are getting too long. Former feral with polydactyl paws. Thanks for a great video!

Definitely no bath necessary. Our 15-pound outdoor cat could not be scruffed either, death spin activated immediately if we tried to hold him down like that. 😅 Towel wrap for meds was the only method.

I've mainly heard polydactyl cats called Hemingway cats. If you visit his house in Key West, they keep a population of descendants from his cats there. They are very well taken care of and are beautiful.

As someone who was bitten by her own cat on my calf. That has left stacs, drew blood and bruised me. The 1st day i was like i should be fine by the 2nd day I was in excruciating pain. There was puss and I was swollen and I had a spreading red rash.. I went to my doctor they put me on strong antibiotics that made me more ill to time fight the infection, so it wouldn't, spread. We had to outline it in everything to make sure it wasn't spreading further up my leg. They also told me cat bites our worst than dog bites I could have easily lost my leg to infection.
