Reminds me of a rat I had years ago, Spinni. She was supposed to be snake food for my oldest sis’ ball python, but the snake wasn’t interested. Seemed to only go for albino rats, which Spinni was not, and of course I got attached. She was an absolute sweetheart, very curious and energetic, quickly learned her own name. After a few months she developed a very noticeable head tilt, but it didn’t seem to impact her too much and she stayed healthy. By then she had three cagemates: Vanilla, Pepper, and Oreo. The four were all buddies, slept in a big pile and sometimes all tried to cram into one hideaway. Around a year and a half later Spinni ended up going deaf, but she was still happy and healthy and just needed more visible indicators when handling. She ended up living almost two more years, making her by far the oldest rat I’ve ever kept and definitely one who went beyond the average life expectancy. A little blessing from the beginning to the end.

When I was in elementary school, I took home our school rabbit for xmas vacation. She had babies. Just my luck. I got nose droppers, and water and milk from pet store. They all died. It was awful. I will save every bunny I can, to make up for my lost ones...I am 60 now, never forgot them. Thank you, you guys are rock stars!!

She was amazing and was actually able to alert me to oncoming seizures many times, allowing me to get myself into a safe position to avoid serious head injuries. I love these people with my whole heart. I have had bunnies in my life and I miss them terribly. They have all been rescue buns. Your bunnies are happy - they do binkies which is a great indication that a bunny is happy. And you did the right thing by rescuing a second bunny. Rabbits are not solitary animals and a friend they can communicate and snuggle with makes life so much better for them. People who buy a rabbit on a whim and keep them in a cage is horrendously heart breaking. A bunnies all have their own distinct personalites. Lovely story. xx
