As an African from Nigeria, I have never been to Jamaica, but I do understand what he is saying, in as much as time's have changed, per it is a new generation. Most people who lived in the country or village were looked down upon with regards to those who grew up in the city or town. It's like The Bill Cosby Show, the Huxtables going to the ghettos to play basketball. It doesn't mean that they are not good people. It was a class distinction. Bob Marley is one of my heroes, and this man is just telling us what he knew about him. There are many sides to and of a picture. Some of our experiences and descriptions of people defer from the way others see that same person. He is not hating on Bob. Bob was real and genuine that you couldn't help but love him, and as a human being, he had flaws. After all, he was called the rude boy and tuff gong. Bob was radical in order to change the world. The prejudice by some Kingstonians is out of ignorance. When country people go to town, they take their country knowledge and experience with them and learn the ropes of town life. Few town people go to the country and learn anything because dem think town knowledge is superior to any other experience. They couldn't be more wrong about that. He could have ended this by legally divorcing Nana Rita. My thoughts are that when he died Rita should have taken her children and left. She shouldnt battle for anything ( I know that might have been hard to do as her legacy was tied up with his) but man she lived a hard life, working to build this dynasty that they are all currently expanding day by day. She has done wonders and should now be able to rest in comfort. Bob left such a mess in life and in death.He was too unaware to have such aware messages.
