Saw him live on his first American tour at Radio City Music Hall here in NYC. Supporting acts The Heptones and Black Uhuru. Cool lineup, eh? Went to the box office first day and got 4th row center seats. My gf and I were in heaven when he opened with The Old Dragon. Man, I will never forget that night.

Heptones was at MSG in 1986. Skatalites was at Radio City Music Hall 1989. Bunny Wailer is the reason I visited those venues. I was not aware a concert was a party. People were sharing burnt offerings, I loved when he got into Dreamland, Love Fire and the Rock and Groove segment. I regret Peter Tosh did not appear. Junior Brathwaite and Dream Walker were ok.

No…. Wailing Wailers before Upstters
@fredvan604329 күн бұрын
The (Wailing) Wailers started around 1963 as a vocal trio, while the Upsetters where a music group, starting from 1968. And when around 1970, under direction of producer/arranger Lee Perry, Wailers and Upsetters (formerly known as the Hippy Boys) got together, they became Bob Marley & the Wailers. Eventually, after parting ways with Perry, the Upsetters' rhythm section (consisting of Aston and Carlton Barrett) became integral part of the Wailers, who (completed by keyboardist Earl Wia Lindo) had become a self-contained band by then.

He has a very small percentage of his music on streaming platforms. So disappointing that a successful artist like Bunny has put his philosophical beliefs before his fan base, meaning that no one can fully appreciate the scope of his work- just a couple of albums that don’t reflect the full body of his musical career.
