FAQ:
Who is this lady?
Gina Petitti was born in 1935 in Faeto, Italy. It is in the province of Foggia in the Puglia region of southeast Italy. Her family ran a farm in Italy and she met her husband, Vito, in the same town. In 1970 Gina, Vito, and her 4 children immigrated to America. Gina’s husband passed away in 2012, but she is surrounded by a large family, which includes 9 grandchildren, and lives 5 minutes away from her eldest daughter in New Jersey. Gina enjoys making food for her family in the same old fashion ways as she was taught by her mother and grandmother in Italy, and also new things she has subsequently learned from family and friends in America. She also enjoys gardening, and being an active member of her local Church.
Where does Gina get her recipes?
Most of these recipes are from what she learned growing up in Italy, but some of them have evolved over time. She has also learned new recipes from friends and family in America. She is always eager to try new things.
Why is no one helping her in the video?
Grandma Gina doesn’t want help! Usually, it’s because we will slow her down or not do it “her way.” For the videos we only show her, but when the camera cuts we jump in and help form the cookies or prep for the next step.
Why don’t we buy her a new...?
Grandma Gina has a closet and garage full of new gadgets, spoons, forks, pots, etc… but she doesn’t like them because she is used to doing it with her old tools. She has fun getting her hands dirty!
Who is behind the camera and behind the scenes?
Grandma Gina’s retired son-in-law, Nick, does the filming, editing, production, and channel management. Her daughter, Maria, helps with food preparation, kitchen setup and fan support. Also, Grandma Gina usually has one or two grand-kids in the kitchen to help.
Does Gina read the comments?
We print out and show her how much love she gets from all her viewers, and she is very thankful and hopes you enjoy her cooking! Your comments bring her lots of joy, laughter, and inspiration to make more videos to share with you.
Thank you for watching, we hope you subscribe, and we will see you in our next video!

I am an Italian man who is not afraid to show my emotions. Every time I watch Gina cook it brings tears to my eyes. She reminds me of my grandmother and my mother who are no longer with us teaching us how to cook these old recipes from the home land. This is one of my favorite recipes I am actually eating some of our own right now. Thank you Nick for sharing this beautiful lady. Cherish every minute with her because when all these mothers and grandmothers are no longer with us we have to carry on their traditions. This recipe is exactly the way we make ours. I watched my grandmother make this when I was a young boy and my mother taught me how to make it as I grew older and to this day I can't wait for eggplant to be ripening at The Farms here in Colorado. Now it is my turn to teach my girls how to make this. Thank you Dana thank you Nick

Thank God today is a Nonna Gina day! I always tell you how much I love you Nonna , but today this note is to Nick , your son-in -law!! Thank you so much Nick, for making these videos possible. I am sure it must take a tremendous amount of time to film, edit, and everything else that is necessary to produce the best videos on You tube! Gina’s fans all appreciate you, I am sure, BUT, please, please, don’t make us wait so long in between. It’s so hard to wait for Nonna Gina’s next video. I’m sure all of us who bought her book just love it, but we need to See and hear her! I am sure she is the adopted Nonna to most of her fans! And we all need our Nonna’s!😘❤️

I love making sandwiches with marinated eggplant, roasted red peppers, tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. All with some basil and olive oil. My favorite sandwich of ALL TIME. Many blessings to you, my beautiful internet Nonna. I love your videos so much. ❤️

This woman's techniques are unsurpassed. Amazing how much knowledge she imparts in every step of the process. This is my favorite way to eat eggplant. Our neighbor in South Philly would make ours. We had two fig trees and we would give her as many as she wanted and she would give us this melanzane sott'olio by the quart. And fig cookies to die for. Thank you, Ms. Gina. I count your tutorials as one of the blessing of my life. I wish you even more success going forward. You are a true treasure. God bless you for sharing your skills with us all.

Unfortunately, I did not find your website until about a week ago. I just love the way you show and explain everything that you are doing. I love listening to you speak Italian; I may even learn some Italian names for the recipes you cook!! Kudos to Nick and your daughter(s) and even some of your grandchildren for keeping "your kitchen set" in such a clean and beautiful condition. I just love you singing "Marina" and all the others, but especially, "Marina." Thank you so very much for everything. God Bless you, Grandma Gina.

my aunt use a pillow case and clothesline to drain hers. She would put the cut up and salted eggplant in a pillow case and hang it on her clothesline overnight. She had the reel type and no critters could get to it, she would reel it out to the middle about 15 feet off the ground. I had another aunt that discovered you could not put them thru the old wringer washer wringer. She said her spin cycle on her new washer was no help either. She tried aunt #1 pillowcase idea in her washer. they were innovators.

Dear Gina. from Japan. I also have a nice cookbook of Gina. I've been watching Gina's KZbin for about two years. Italian food, which I loved, has become more familiar and everyday. My family is also very happy. Gina's sincere way of life and gentle smile lead me to a happy time. thank you. I am grateful to you and this time to live in this world. May God bless you.

God bless you. I love watching you. The way you do things is how my Nonni did them. She took her time and sang while she was cooking. I was lucky enough to be there to watch and learn. I miss her so much. Thank you for your videos. They bring me back to those days.❤
