Nonna Gina! I grew up in NYC's "Little Italy" in the 60's. I lived on Mulberry and Grand. It is the heart of Little Italy. I had an Italian baby sitter! I grew up eating zeppole during San Genarro feast. I grew up eating Scicilian pizza, prosciutto calzones, ricotta cake, sfogliatelle...Oh I can go on and on! Thank you for bringing me back to my childhood!

It’s funny that people now are critical of people using hands to cook. And it’s mostly people who don’t cook. From scratch is everything including the tools we have today. Hands are our number one tool. The problem is people lost the concept of being clean. Please stop feeling bad for using your hands. Your a clean person and know how to provide for people in a clean healthy way. I would be the first in line to eat anything u made with your hands. Using your hands is the love in every bit you give to your family. Love your videos. Thank you so much for opening your kitchen to us!! I hope your feeling well and staying safe

Ms. Gina--your accent is like music to my ears. You speak the universal language of grandmotherly love. The grandmother I knew was Hungarian who also made her own doughs, pastries, jams, meals, everything from scratch. I would watch in amazement as she would peel fruit, the peel in one long strand, never breaking...or it seemed. She would tell me stories of her village in Hungary and life as an immigrant not know any english (she came to US in 1928 as a young woman), of baking bread in the village ovens, of stomping cabbage , the plum harvest and making lekvar (jam), so on and so on...Grandmothers like you and mine are the family historians, the keepers and teachers of traditions, you are a treasure to your family and everyone who watches you. God Bless and thank you for sharing YOU and your traditions.

Funny you mention about the new gadgets, years ago my dad decided to upgrade her to a newer washing machine, she had the tub washer with the crank on top, she made him take it back. Mrs. Petitti is a wonderful soul and you can tell she loves her family dearly, and loves cooking for them just as much.
