As a stereotypical guitar nut, this shit blows my mind. This is really cool man, minimalist but expressive. I'd love to see your process behind writing this stuff, I imagine its pretty different from acoustic music making. Good job dude.
@BURG6 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot man! :) Yeah, the process is pretty different, when using synths you come up with a phrase.. and program it, no need to practice playing it repeatedly. :) It is however bit too long of an explanation to respond fully on a comment, i have to bank this for a possible video in the future. cheers and thanks!
@cellrok6 жыл бұрын
The expressiveness comes from having all those knobs. I find them essential. 1 knob per function. You can then interact with any aspect of the sound at any moment. This makes it comparable to playing a string instrument in a way. It starts with tuning and the sequencer is your right hand and the left is free to choose to hold or slide anywhere. Only that here we twist knobs to bend the notes.. oh and effects.. lots of them :) - of course there is the other side of synth music where the computer does a lot, behind the scenes, but setups like this are a lot better to capture the essence just like any other physical instrument.

Yay. Burg with a Volca Keys always does my heart good. I dare say the harmonic tones and entrancing bass lines of your Volca Bass have become signature sounds for you as well. Nice to see a sort of back to basics, limited set up. I tend to go back and forth between wanting this grand rig of big, powerful hardware synths and lots of Elektron machines and just wanting to put together little jams on my Volcas and Pocket Operators. I agree with the probable need for a more robust mixer. The Behringer 1002B is the only somewhat compact solution that I've found that can run on batteries but also includes things like pan, EQ, FX sends, etc. I built a fully battery powered studio in a case around that one. Worked quite well but it eats batteries very fast. Not sure if the goal is for everything to fit in that case lid but the Volca Sample might make for a good percussive solution that will save space. You could load samples of any other drum machine you wanted. Anywho... I'm rambling. Good tune, bro. I hope to see more compact set up vids.

The uno is a toy. There’s far better options for the price
@BURG6 жыл бұрын
@@valdiskrebs566 I dont really save all the reviews i read but.. one of the biggest problems/limitations mentioned in the reviews, is that an external app is needed for deeper sound design.. which makes a computer, app, or some editor a requirement (a problem for the setup i am building). Also, even sonicstate had some negative input on said feature set, build quality etc. Plus i have friends that have returned the unit back. The uno is however still on my list, just contemplating if it will end up on the final short list.
@valdiskrebs5666 жыл бұрын
ollilaboratories The iOS app seems nice because it helps you create sounds easier, that you will then use while performing. With most gear I replace the factory patches with stuff that fits my needs... the quicker/easier I can do that, the better. I just don’t want to use an iPad/Mac/PC interface while jamming/performing.

The Synth sound that comes in at 5:08, is it coming from the volca bass? You load NRY3 on your bass and it changes so it must come from the volca bass but I still hear a bass synth sound as well so how is that possible that both of those phrases are coming from the volca bass at the same time? Can you sequence all three oscillators on the volca bass separately or how did you do this?

@BURG6 жыл бұрын
Hey! :) the settings on the volca keys is really nothing special to change the voice.. they important thing is to play the cutoff like a swell pedal / sweep. This helps to create the dreamy sound in combination with a nice delay and reverb. Mellow tunes, alright! - Question: The outputs on these Volcas are stereo, right? So how do you connect them to a mono mixer? Also, how do you use the MS70 „on“ the mixer?
@BURG6 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! :) Yep, correct its sort of summed stereo.. so no real separated info there. I just use stereo 3/4" jacks to 1/4" stereo jack into mixer. Then ill just get the other channel audible, but since both channels are the same it does not matter. I have also heard that using mono jacks, for some weird reason can mess up synching.. so this is why im sticking to stereo cables, but then just plug them into mono channels. ms.70 is just mx.400 out to mono in on the zoom pedal, which also sums up the signal into two channels, and by using a slight amount of spring reverb in the ms70 get sort of a pseudo stereo effect.
