Alright friends, this is it.. the first test track with the new PreSonus StudioLive 16.0.2 mixer.. it is just about everything i thought it would be plus a little more.
Now I am taking the step toward starting to write a proper full length album, and what you here on this video/track, is the first jam session. I would love you hear your input, as this one is not final... i will do another recording tomorrow as Cubase could not record 16 tracks at once (it stopped after 2 mins).. so i have to use StudioLive capture, which is fine... so this one only exists as a 2 track version.
Plan going forward is, to record a live session... both to 2 track, and also on 16 track, so i can first post the video on youtube, get your input ... also id like your feedback on what to do with the track going post production. This will take some time (obviously).. but id like to get you involved in the post production process. Any and all comments are welcome, as you can understand i cannot answer all questions and input... but i will try to do my best :)
Also, once i have the stems ready.. for a few tracks, and the album starts closing in on completion.. i will reach out to you for some remix work. (which will be loads of fun !)
This track as you understand is in no way a complete piece of music.. consider it a jam, and a structured piece to try and complete the jigsaw puzzle of the new BURG album. For all we know, this track might not even end up on the album :)
So Enjoy, and play it loud! :D

Hey mate just as a suggestion. I completely by accident was playing another synth video in the background of this one. It had very distorted/compressed drums. so while i was watching this that was playing but it was buffering slowly which meant that only occasionally a messed up drum beat would play. This was only happening during the intro and it was really cool. It is hard to explain.

Again one of my fabs, It is noted that it is for the album: Master Olli or Burg you said : "id like to get you involved in the post production process. Any and all comments are welcome, as you can understand i cannot answer all questions and input... but i will try to do my best :)" 1- So to begin with it´s 16 tracks recording at one time isn´t it ? 2- You use Reaper i think ( or no longer '? which then), would you be so kind, for your sound (stupid I guess ) what main brands do you use, like & why and more or or less i.e.: compresion-soundtoys , EQ´-waves ... chorus/flanger /A free unknown one .... 3: and last, your most conmon master chain if there´s an aproximate one or allways changing on songs demands. So I guess with that you become one or the most open heart and mind as well, I mean thank you very, very much, I mean you helped a lot of people around the word, Persisting in what they really like.I know there are 2 parts involved in that role, but you are the one who puts the magic here.

Hypnotic, absolutely stunning, as always. You're such an inspiration to so many of us. Keep it Up! "This track as you understand is in no way a complete piece of music.." How come? Sounds all complete to me! Do not over-do your productions, this rawness and space You have is very large part of charm your music has. I am not sure it would work as well without the hiss, rawness and spacious arrangements. Wanted to ask You, how you're doing with StudioLive? Do find Yourself using dynamics and effects from the mixer, or are plugins in Cubase better?
@BURG
@BURG 8 жыл бұрын
+Mikko Sundman There will most probably just be some minor cleanups of noises and hisses etc, the parts that has no space in the production. Still not sure about this track though... time will tell if it makes the cut :) On the studiolive, i mainly use it as mixer, some simpler FX and dynamics are used on the 2 track versions, but will most probably use cubase plugins if im doing post production as the channels are recorded pre- any FX, which imho is good.
@spintonik
@spintonik 8 жыл бұрын
+ollilaboratories Hi, thanks for a reply. Myself, I've been queuing to a certain Soundcraft analog mixer / USB interface for a year now, which will allow one to integrate plugins to a live composition/mixing workflow. But digital mixers would allow the same thing - and as EQ/Compression algorithms are old invention, I bet You won't be able to distinquish the difference between Cubase and StudioLive EQ/Compression on a blind A/B test. What comes to this particular movement - as You requested feedback about your album project - I think this is one of the most dance floor friendly songs you're done. On a album context, (which feels dumb anyway as CD is dead and musicians are not bound to 73-minute target anymore) I think it's important to have various moods or styles presented. As you have plenty of music that one can smoke_herbs_and_stare_passively_to_a_black_corner to, one rhythmic tune in between is just a great addition ;) Therefore I hear this tune with a bit louder drums, more pulsing than now (sidechain compression). I love the way you introduce the claps at end of the tune, snareless beats keep the suspense very well. Go easy with noise filters, this tune borders between deep house and techno, in both genres hiss and distortion just adds to the character. You're using real analog gear for the same reason, remember? :) but all in all, one of the best tunes You've done, surely deserves to be in the album :)
