My experience with BK is that the stores are usually hoooorible! Almost always understaffed and disorganized and frankly kind of ghetto. And yet the Whopper is undeniably a good burger, better than most fast food flagship burgers. It's a shame.
@riproar11
@riproar11 2 жыл бұрын
What makes the Whopper better than other burgers is 1: the flame-broiled taste, 2: freshness from all of that lettuce, onions and tomatoes, 3: Most important is the lack of that cheap orange cheese that even In-N-Out uses. It's that orange cheese that gives one that gross-out McNausea feeling.

I have the same experience. The Whopper and Rodeo burgers and the onion rings are waaaaaay better than the competitors. But the wait is horrendous. A couple of months ago, my wait at the drive-through was almost 30 minutes. That was the last time I went to a BK.

WE LOVED ALL THE BURGER KINGS IN DUBLIN. FAB FOOD AND VERY GOOD STAFF. NO COMPLAINTS AT ALL. SAME IN THE US 1993-2005. EVERY BK WE WENT TO IN NJ, IL, CA, and ELSEWHERE WERE VERY GOOD. LOVED THEM. OTOH, THE MCDONALDS WERE SEEDY, THEIR BUNS NO GOOD AND BURGERS FRIED. WE ALWAYS PROMOTED BK. EVEN IN CANADA, THE WENDYS WERE NICE. IN DUBLIN, THE KFC IS SUPERB. WHATS GOING ON IN THE US? I worked at Burger King. The owners showed up one evening and had a meeting with us employees to tell us how committed they were to the success of the restaurant. Yeah, I can't believe what's become of Burger King. I also have fond memories of that place, especially craving the Whopper. It made my mouth water just thinking about it! Back in the day, me and my brothers looked forward to mom & dad taking us to Burger King. I loved Burger King - Not anymore! I'm scratching my head wondering what the heck they did to get rid of most of the flavor from Whopper & their classic original chicken sandwich! The Whopper is nearly flavorless and the original chicken sandwich is now way too salty. Regarding the Whopper, if you have to add salt & pepper to the patty to try to "fix it" (which only provides marginal improvement) then that is obviously NOT a good burger! Bottomline, I agree with you about how bad Burger King is now. - Rant over!

In the largest city in my county (where most of the fast food joints are) Spanish is actually taught in the local high school. In Michigan one year of a foreign language is required to graduate. Guess what, you are going to run into many people that speak Spanish in that area so don't tell your friend to do something in Spanish assuming no one else speaks the language. Also, if you go to a Michigan prison most of the guards learn the profanities and crude remarks in Spanish quite quickly (I knew a few of the guards in a local state prison) and they do punish inmates who make such remarks within earshot.

It's too bad. Rising costs lead to rising prices, cutting into profit margins while presenting less opportunities for healthy competition. Burger King until recently, had their discount flyer having the two Jr. Whopper/fries at 3.99. Then it rose incrementally until it's current "discount" of 6.99. This price increase is difficult to swallow. They are doing what they need to do to survive, but it's fairly shocking to the consumer.

My wife and I called it "Recipe B". It's when your favorite items disappear from the menu and they give you a "new streamlined menu". It's really a move to low effort cooking and the food is noticeably worse. Management is trying to increase profits by cutting corners. Such a place usually goes out of business completely within 6 months. People figure it out and stop coming. There's no way to fix this either, because even if you get right again, the people who stopped coming wouldn't see the improvements because they stopped coming.

I was talking to a truck driver many years ago. He told me that most of those big chain truck stops funded by drug money. I thought Ok sure whatever. We had a local Burger King that was owned by our mayor. Place was always full of flies. While using the drive through I paid with a $20 bill for $8 of food and got $2 and change back. I'm like she just short changed me by $10.00. A few minutes later she opens the window and say "What do you want?" I tell her she shorted me on my change. She slams the window shut. A few minutes later she opens the window and says "What do you want?" I tell her she shorted on the change that she gave me. She then slams the window shut and leaves. It took the third time she came back to get her to give me my $10 change back. I think she pocketed the $10 bill and hoped I wouldn't notice. A few months later our mayor got caught in a undercover drug sting selling cocaine. He was heard bragging on camera saying the voter were stupid and would continue voting for him. That was when I realized that the mayor was using the Burger King to launder his drug money. Another trucker who owned his own truck told me he was having some work done on his truck at one of those big chain truck stops. He pays for the work and the service manager says "Hey, do you want a receipt for some truck tires on that receipt?" Mind you that truck tires cost an arm and a leg. He says hell yes. Service manager gives him a receipt for something like $10,000-$12,000. The truck writes off $12,000 as a business expense on his taxes. The truck stop chain says that they sold $12,000 of truck tires while putting $12,000 of drug money in the cash register which they report on their tax form as coming from a sale on truck tires. I've heard that franchise fast food places may make a net profit of $100-200 a day. I think the only reason people will open a fast food franchise is to launder drug money.

People have changing taste. I am a Gen X person and my children are Gen Y and Z. They don't go to BK for snacks or fast food meals. A lot of the college and Highschool age students here get lunch at the supermarket deli or the go to cheap mom and pop Mexican food trucks. If I was a betting person, I would tell investors to go for something international and highly spiced. Burgers are bland. Fries are not the preferred side from what I see. It's all about the flavor and the tech. My youngest ordered from BK on the mobile app only to have to reorder when he got there because nobody was paying attention to mobile orders. They were short staffed. He has not been back.

I was at a BK today here in Dartmouth, NS, Canada just after the lunch rush. No toilet paper in the bathroom stall and a homeless guy sprawled across one of the booth benches fast asleep. Customers and staff seemed to be much more willing to acknowledge the toilet paper shortage.

Remote work continues to rise. Meetings people traveled to before Covid and might have stopped at a fast food restaurant are being completed remotely using Teams and other services. The downtown where I live is still having negative impact from everyone working from home. That certainly impacts all the restaurants that do lunch business, including BK.

I dont get it. If you are staying at home, to work, you probably want to go out to eat more often since you have more time without wasting hours on commuting and when you work at home you have a reason to go out to eat, while if you have to go out to work, you dont need another reason to go out. Also, business people usually dont go to burger king due to the ghetto like characteristic.

Major reasons why BK is going bankrupt is not paying their workers well and opening up to many stores and the brand is so burned out and also the locations they place their stores not only that some stores are really ghetto and have really poor quality in team work and the quality of the food ,BK is pretty much saying screw all of this I want all of the money before we lose it all and let’s build a new restaurant name franchise and start from scratch with the billions of dollars they have generated for decades

Well I will certainly say that they have done a number on their price hikes, I do definitely agree with you there... As far as the menu options go I think that they have more than adequate menu granted they may not have everything listed particularly on the drive thru menu. But frankly would annoys me about most other restaurants is there way too many menu options and it's annoying because I know that most people are not ordering that shit meaning it's causing the price of what I and most normal people would order to go up because everything that they're throwing away that isn't selling especially because it's usually high price specialshit no one wants they have to make up the difference somewhere. I can remember when all burger joints were awesome.. When you went to Burger King and you ordered a Whopper back in the late 80s and specifically up until the early 2000's, it's standardly came with cheese!!! Because this is America and normal people eat cheeseburgers. If you did not want cheese then back in the day you had to specifically say that you didn't want cheese. But of course ever since the early to mid 2000s things have changed people took literally Burger King's tagline of have it your way we're used to be you would just modify the item within certain parameters because there was other options available by the way that they laid out.. But of course like everywhere they got to babying the customer and now the customers are bunch of spoiled particular little bastards who apparently cannot live without sauce, they hold yp the line with customizations that really don't make any sense because they claim they wanted the number one when they don't really want a number one because they want to alter it so far away from being a number one it's not even understandable as to why they told the clerk they wanted a number one. And because of their pickiness and the fast-paced environment that goes on in the kitchen particularly when they're understaffed that means the my sandwich has to suffer these bastards wrath! Set my sandwich definitely ends up with weird sauce or some other shit I didn't order. That's why I like a simple menu or simple menu eliminates that you know what I can remember back in the day there was three fucking condiments... Ketchup, mustard and mayo. The only BBQ sauce was for nuggets, of course chicken is to blame, simply because you just can't stop at BBQ sauce no no you have to have honey mustard, sweet and sour because frozen nuggets apparently calls for Asian like sauce! Aside from my rant, points is simply a simpler menu men's faster service and quality because you're not focused on eight hundred different things at once no no you're focused on a few core items... Honestly this is why I believe that as little as 20 years ago people could fucking melt the cheese this is why the food wasn't half cold and wet when it got to you much like it is a pretty much Wendy's. So everyone that has nostalgia for the past must understand this is why we have nostalgia for the past because it was smaller menus simpler choices and people just ate normal food and they also ate it the way it came!
