You make a good argument for the Wim WInters AuthenticSound whole beat hypothesis. The MM in current usage should be 52 not 104. Allegro not Presto. This is something I am experimenting with. I was a theoretical physicist so the whole beat is the way I would see a swinging object. I am in the impossible position of being half convinced. When I started piano lessons in the 1940s I had to play Burgmüller studies and never looked again until now, thanks. [Somehow I could not get the full tutorial when I logged in to my "ProPractice Lifetime Access" though not important.]

Lola is seven years old? WOW, Dr. Wright, seems like just yesterday she was a baby! 😊 I don't have to tell you: time flies, enjoy every moment!😊 I like your approach: Burgmüller lived more in France than Germany. The French Romantic is somewhat different from the German, and I am certain Rubato and expression would have been more pronounced for him than if he had stayed in Deutschland, just my opinion! Even the titles of his works are en Français😊 in 1842 he was granted French citizenship. Could you do a tutorial on "Les Sylphes" sometime? That is such a beautiful piece as well. Thank you😊

Hey Josh, great video as always. I just wanted to ask if you would mind doing a tutorial on Schubert’s impromptu in A flat major op.142 no 2. As I am performing this piece for my A level it would be of great help. (Only if you can and want of course)

Going at tempo is fine but it is those last 4 parallel bars that will drag you down to the world of despair. It is one place where “hands independent” is not helpful. Hands cuffs could help 😂😂.

it's not uncommon for people to comment that these studies sound better played more slowly. you could try that if it suits your taste.
