My mate locked himself in his room so he could blast this during an acid trip at about 4 am. Our neighbour came round complaining and I had to answer the door tripping to apologise with this song flowing down the stairs in the background. When I opened the door of my mates room to tell him to turn it down a bit a wall of blue sound hit me. Good times, immense tune!

I have a theory about this feeling - your body is made up of atoms that comprised of a different state before you came into existence. The "nostalgia" you experience is your consciousness briefly recalling this past composition, but unable to associate it with any memories as your conscious was not currently present at the time. If you were to say your consciousness was a programme then you could describe the feeling as a broken code. Nonetheless, it's the closest you can possibly get to understanding your connection to the entirety of the universe whilst in your conscious state. The fact that a piece of music has triggered this sensation is truly mind-blowing.

Strangely as it sounds, this song and another listening to this album made me realise how fortunate I am to have a great girlfriend. I went to her room to give her a kiss. I'm afraid to be in that stat as I was before her. Burial is something else, this album is on another level. Words cannot express how deeply I feel, how connected? Idk it's just hits you right in the soul. I hope everyone is okay here, peace.

I understand why everyone feels for this song. Archangel will always be the one. Driving down the road after a bad break-up, and you have to pull over because you're gutted and sobbing. Weirdly, I don't look back at that badly, it was closure, letting go. It's been 12+ years, and she messaged me a few months ago, and Im not going back. Ever.

The first part is like Silent Hill trip-hop with vocals. Second part is like... when you finish Silent Hill and can finally leave with a bittersweet feeling. I'm almost positive Burial got inspired by Akira Yamaoka. It wouldn't be surprising considering Burial used Silent Hill 3 samples in his tracks.

I've heard music like at 3:29 often. I don't associate it with dubstep. Especially 4:20. I feel like a lot of ''space music'' can sound like that. Many of those songs sound very sad but also somehow open a gate to your soul. I can lay in bed and feel like I am floating through space. Look up Kevin Kendle - Spiral.

Timbah said the last 30 seconds hit like a train, lets see what we working with start - I enjoy the build and the glassy blunted keys quite a bit mid - It sounds like the bass is literally weeping. This is haunting but gorgeous later mid, post reincorporation of the rain - tearing up although not entirely sure why fated last 30 - nice break right as the emotional impact of the previous section was starting to simultaneously overload and wear off. Was marginally overhyped I believe overall 4/5 damn decent track, pulls on the heartstrings a bit while still being unique and not overbearingly emotional. Leads into a cathartic release at the late mid / end of track that leads to introspection and causes you to give pause to process what you just heard

This seems so abstract and strange to me, I really don't understand why this hits everyone so deep. Following the EDM evolution from its birth, I really don't know why this hits people so hard, relatively. Maybe because this is the first time listening to it in 2023, and knowing the wonders of 90s-20s trance, house, techno, prog, acid, electro... I am just too late and sullied to join the party... maybe its my innate hatred of Jazz and what it stands for musically... I need beauty and structure at once. This just sounds like Melodic Randomness.... can anyone elucidate? I really don't mean to insult anyone's tastes or experiences, some BT classics, and Children by R. Miles, get me going 25+ years later- I love equals and opposites in music, the intricacies, the dissonance complimenting the melody in ways, not mathematically, but artistically pleasing... but I need more context or something to appreciate this song the way so many others do, and I want to! Is this a case of ''you're too late and you'll never know'?
@LM-tass1ut
@LM-tass1ut Жыл бұрын
I keep listening trying to understand... I don't know. I do think this isn't an EDM category. Ambient? I dislike that word, and its not a genre either- unless its the sound of crickets chirping outside or a busy roadway. God bless, I'm confused.

not even close, this version is FAR SUPERIOR because it has the best part: the last minute. what a dumb, limp wristed observation. terrible taste.

This is actually awful. Am I missing something or are people joking when they say that they like this? I dig the parts past 3:30, but the rest sounds macabre and cacophonous

All the various the repeating samples with whatever audio effects he chooses for each just evoke a pretty strong feeling of nostalgia for me. The drums do feel odd at first but they add a bit of structure while being simple enough to not distract from those samples. For me they also kinda sound like a quickly ticking clock or a metronome, which sorta fits together well with that timely nostalgic vibe. I think the drums on this album in general almost serve to juxtapose the would be slowness of the samples and create a sort of unexpected / contrasting quickness to the songs. Just my thoughts tho I’d be curious to hear what you think

I don’t hate it, I actually sort of like it, but I do agree it sounds weird with the Silent Hill-ish sounds in the first part. Judging from the comments, to like it, you either have to be depressed or on acid. Most likely both.

Love your vocab.. my brothers name is Sebastian. I didn't like this the first time, years ago, when i listened to the whole album, it was my least fav out of the "good ones" that i never wanted to hear. ..today I listened to it about at least 10 times for some reason that idk

Boy, this was boooooring. This is why I hate this type of music: its so damn repetitive and pointless. Someone recently told me "go listen to Burial, i bet it will change your mind", well, my opinion remains unchanged.

I feel like that's the point, repetition is a really good asset for a song that sounds so crisp and meditative I can see why don't you like it but there's wayyyyy more boring music out there
