They can’t prove premeditation and have a murder weapon or DNA or physical evidence linked to her. First degree most likely will see her walk away. Don’t forget victim was most killed in 2015, body was discovered 3 years after. Will be very hard to connect the real happenings

Because they know she’s lying. She’s told a few different stories. The state can still charge her if they believe she did it, regardless of the changing stories or who said they did it etc, they just need to get the case and evidence in front of a jury to decide

A couple areas where Laurie's case could seem to appear as if the ends are meeting... seem to be such as her never relocating Michael's body in the month gap after police desired to exclusively search her property... that said, her inaction to do so could indicate that she indeed wasn't aware of where Michael's corpse was located. And although it's odd how Laurie allegedly could've been the one securing Michael's "leaving her to go to Georgia" by promoting false verbal communications... there could be a parallel between this oddity and that of the basis of her daughter actially being the one to have killed Michael (this being seldom a claim as a line of defense). That said, Laurie claiming that Michael "left her and his family" being another way of referring to marital problems without actually officially doing so... the extremity of sending phony messages as part of a cover up could've been an overreaction(an individual who never originally had plans to cover up a murder could, maybe even something of easily suffer from additional worry or even paranoia in contrast to a killer with more pure intentions) out of worry in protecting her daughter as well as herself and anyone else involved in covering up an event of which she believes (or claims to) was purely inconveniently placed upon them by Michael. That said, to the next point... if Laurie was anything of spitefully angry or aggravatedly covering up Michael 's death (all the while regarding this task as completely unnecessary if it wasn't for Micheal's needless foul play leading from one extent to another...), then that could something of explain why Laurie could've chosen to follow through with giving the impression to those close to Michael... that negative, careless messages were a part of his own personal choices of words (such as the mentioning of cutting off relations and perhaps whatever else...).
