Sandstorms come to mind when I think of a Desert, a thousand square miles of Desert dust, debris, sand and grit grinding at every thing in its path, living or not, at a hundred plus Kmh, what they were doing is not a "simulation" of a "Desert Wind"...

They left out Plumbing. Well, it has plumbing, it just has no way to pipe the sewage away so they have to carry it off by the truckload. You'd think a sewage system would have been something they thought of.

That was only a concern as the new downtown was being finished and DEWA was being expanded to the area when the tower opened. It's had you know, normal plumbing connected to sewers since forever.

Land and labor costs, some cities and countries have more expensive land, also Dubai had many empty plots of land that they didn't need to demolish older buildings in order to clear the land, also Dubai employs foreign workers from developing countries for construction, and they get paid very little

The building has a full sewage system, its not connected to anything yet, last i heard a few years ago Dubai was building the worlds biggest water threatment/sewage system, no idea how its going.

If ever there was place that looked like a cheap whore house, the Burj Khalifa is the place. It is the most garish and tacky place I've ever seen. It is almost the quintessential stereotype for a very rich man trying to prove, to the rest of the town, that he has class. Although he's desperate to be accepted, the real upper crust will never be seen there.
