I could listen to Burke talk al day. Amazing hockey kind. It’s a shame he’s not a GM right now. It’s a waste that all that knowledge is being wasted but I love listening to him.

Brian Burke passed in Jagr in 1990 ,because Jagr told all the teams before Pens ,he had to do mandatory military service in Czechoslovakia ,which was not truth ....He idolized MARIO and wants to play with him ...When Pittsburgh called ..Jagr say ,I could be there right the way

I've been mystified by the lack of goalies in the first round, too. Discussed, but no final answer in this segment. Think Burke was implying that goalies take longer to develop, and drafting them when 18-22 years old is 'a gamble'. Hope that changes, because all playoff teams and Cup winners have a great goalie. More succinctly, you can't reach the playoffs without a primo goalkeeper. Why can't NHL hockey identify young talent in goal?????
@randdomize8583 жыл бұрын
The rules around waivers plays a big role as well. You draft a goalie and spend years developing him only to get stuck risk waiving them or forcing them into the NHL. I would like to see rule changes to make it easier for teams to keep and develops goalies in the AHL without having to risk losing them for nothng.

How did Brian Leetch do on his combine? He was the best pick of his draft! Combines mean nothing in this day and age for TOP NHL prospects, since these prospects play non-stop in all sorts of tournaments... including tournaments that have NHL players! Combines are for kids who are not well known or top prospects that are not highly skilled but are naturally, physical specimens! It is the same in the NFL, it is for freaks who are strong but have little SKILL, example: Brady 's combine was embarrassing! The combines are merely there for agents to prop up their clients!
@v4v8195 ай бұрын
Actually Brian Leetch did poorly in his combine and probably cried to his mom going home in his car... And while he wasn't a bust he surely was no Paul Coffey and without Messier, no cup winner!

Anachronism. a thing belonging or appropriate to a period other than that in which it exists, especially a thing that is conspicuously old-fashioned. Like, Radio on TV.

Too bad the guy in the sun glasses doesn't know his hockey history. The Flyers drafted 2 goalies in the first round during their stint of above average teams and mediocre goaltending. Brian Boucher ('95) and Maxime Ouellett ('99) both drafted 22 overall. They also drafted JM Pelletier barely into the second round, 30 overall in '97. The latter two played a combined 19 games in the NHL. Boucher had a respectable career but the Flyers drafted Johan Hedberg in the 9th round, 218 overall, in '94 and he played and won more games than all 3 of the aforementioned picks combined. To Burke's point, Hedberg didn't even play a single game for the Flyers!

There were 19,127 people at the 1990 draft. Not the 30,000 that Burke claimed. What revisionism! He should hold a press conference and offer a public apology!!

How can erroneous content be a meaningless fact? Why not just say there were 300 people shot in the US instead of 10?
