Awwww, I was at that show. After the show a group of us went back to his house for a hang. I'll never forget it. He was so kind and his wife Dorothy was an angel !

He would have been in his early 80s here. I missed this tour because when he came to town I saw no advertisements. Then you later complained that it was poorly attended. I've been in the music business all my life if I didn't know about it how did they expect with general public to find it? My first exposure to this man was as a singing snowman. What a voice and what an entertainer

That was amazing to hear him when he was 81. He still had it and could still entertain the best of them. Too bad he is gone I loved the Christmas story that he narrated when I was a little boy. It is still popular today. Cheers to Burl Ives. Absolutely the best ever. No one can replace him. Thanks for sharing this.

A great unique voice. It was back in the late 50s i was in my 20s when The Big Rock Candy Mountain. He sang two favourites one after the other. A Little bity Tear Let Me Down. Now I am waiting for the real heart plucker, which is Mary Ann Regrets. I saw a few of his films one was titled, Desire Under Elms, I think that one was staring Anthony Perkins and Eartha Kitt. The Big County, starring Gregory Peck, Jean Simmons and Sir…..Hardwick, his Christian name has escaped me. But I live in hope to hear Mary Ann regrets she’s unable to see you again.
