3041 had an amazing Leslie 5-chime, I think this video is the best and only example on You-Tube of BN Gp38's or GP40's with a Leslie. Thanks for the killer footage!

Back in the day, we called the LMX units “sharks” because of the fin shaped triangle on their sides. We also called those GE b units “twinkies” just because of their shape.

Excellent collection of BN shots! I didn't recognize all locations, but saw you shot some around Barstow and what looked like up by Savanna. I used to drive up to that crossing that was right near the lookout (I think there was a boat ramp there) and catch some action back in the 90's.

Hey Jeff, I noticed that its nearly impossible to find a BN Dash 8 or Dash 9 from these old films. Is there a reason for this?
@jefftoft55682 жыл бұрын
BN never had any, C30-7s were the only six axle GEs. Now BNSF had Dash 9s. My first BNSF painted units I saw were Dash 9s.

so at what year did the BN Locomotive go without any didtch lights, to 2 strobes, then alternating ditch lights.
@jefftoft55683 жыл бұрын
I think the BN did strobes on their own in 1993 and the Federal government said all railroads had to have ditch lights in 1995.
