Question about the transducer cover: When it's retracted does it sit fully in the well (fully up out of the way?) or does it stick slightly below the level of the hull? For example if it was retracted and you dragged your kayak (😱) would the protector cover make contact with the ground?

It’s almost fully retracted. But this cover can take a beating and be fine

I have found that marine 5200 is great however the best stuff for kayak plastics is G-Flex

The keel guard gator strip is 65$ don't use a hair dryer, use the sun but don't apply it in the sun it will start curing and hardening super fast. Ask me how I know. I applied mine eariler morning before it was even 70 degrees and my tape hardened within 40seconds of sunlight.

That's a design flaw on hobies part, my transducer has a nice cutout in the bottom of the kayak and a flush cover over it...

For the protection of the immersion front of the kayak in my poor opinion a piece of aluminum or a thin stainless steel sheet is the best!!!
