When Traumatic experiences like this get passed down what kind of mindframes will this create? Father was born in 1943. Grandmother 1918. Me 1980. I'm aware of what was passed down to me. It’s crazy how these stories are missing from our history books. There should be classes dedicated to insuring our children are educated about how despicable and disgusting white people acted back then. Our children need to know the facts about racism and it’s victims. Not only does it insure that we never forget, it reminds us that our nations history is NOT just heroes and good times but we also have many instances where we as a people are not very proud of. Classes need to be taught, books need to be written to insure that this never happens again. It is not too long ago that these atrocities happened. Todays violence in our inner cities can be attributed to our violent past. We must do better to educate our youth in order to insure a different future. Learning from our past but also never forgetting will also put the kind of respect 🫡 to all those who suffered in those trying times of extreme racism. We can not change what has happened BUT we can educate and learn in order to move forward into a new day of equality and justice. Black people, native Americans, Mexicans, Jews, Asians and the LBGTQ society all have been mistreated. As a civilized nation that is supposed to be a bacon of light and hope for others if all nations and backgrounds, we can and should do better. Teach, learn, have the tough discussions, remind, reflect, heal, reassure, remember, respect, hurt, heal, reach out, honor and reflect. It is our duty to do these things. We can learn tough lessons. We can teach our children the right way to live and respect each other. Love instead of hate our brethren.

Southern laws were enacted in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by white Southern Democrat-dominated state legislatures to disenfranchise and remove political and economic gains made by African Americans during the Reconstruction era.[4] Jim Crow laws were enforced until 1965.[5]African Americans who were former slaves, and the minority of black people who had been free before the war. In the 1870s, Democrats gradually regained power in the Southern legislatures[17] as violent insurgent paramilitary groups, such as the Ku Klux Klan, White League, and Red Shirts disrupted Republican organizing, ran Republican officeholders out of town, and lynched Black voters to as an intimidation tactic to suppress the Black vote.[18]
