Who else feels like they'd rather maintain grass than xeriscape (zeroscape) areas? Picking weeds takes way longer and is more tedious than sitting back on a riding lawn mower with a cold beer... This torch helped with that, but still...

I had the same thought after putting in a rock lawn… spending so much time with weeds
@bencashman10172 жыл бұрын
The weed torch is a great tool, but you do NOT want to just incinerate the weeds initially - that just gets rid of the foliage but does NOT kill the roots! They will grow back stronger than they were initially. The correct technique is to lightly heat each weed just to the point that the foliage wilts, and then wait for them (several days) to die from the foliage down to the roots. The wilted foliage will stress the plants to kill the roots more than completely incinerating the foliage, believe it or not. Then, once the foliage has turned brown after a few days, you can come back and completely incinerate the dead weeds.

Thanks so much, had my torch for years and never was told this👍🏾

Thank you for this wonderful advice! My husband and I have actually been doing this wrong, however we do follow-up with bleach to kill the roots. But if your method of wilting the foliage kills the roots, that will save us the trouble of following up with the bleach. So much time and money spent on this annual task!!

from what ive read too your suppose to lightly water the ground too to "boil" the water in the ground around it while not completely burning the leafs so it keeps using energy to try to grow and eventually kills itself

I am impressed. You get exactly how to use this. Now I can use your video to help a friend understand. I grew up on a farm 30 yrs ago and we did the same thing but with a much larger flame. Enjoy your day and thank you again.

yea! Since we're near a lake, keeps the environment a little nicer.

Except the the link to this type of Preen and Roundup is a huge red flag. Both contain herbicides, one of which was banned in the entire EU years ago and the other is banned in a lot of the EU along with a list of other countries. Only Preen Natural Vegetable Garden Weed Preventer is environmentally friendly since it is made from corn gluten.

Hello my friend. It's a good idea to burn weeds instead of picking them or cutting them. The torch is also very strong and burning. See you. greetings. thank you for sharing.

Wow! You’re one of the lucky ones. Yours works. I can’t clearly put into words how frustrating it is following directions and it lights for .5 a second and nothing. It’s good at blowing it’s own flame out. I’ve literally adjusted the propane levels on the dial.

Yeah I’m sick and tired of pulling weeds in the FL heat every 2 weeks from 3 plant beds. Im done getting fried in the sun, I prefer to fry em to a crisp instead 😃

WHENEVER you are working with fire, pull your garden hose out, have a spray nozzle attached and the water valve open. If the fire gets away from you you can squirt it out quick. Dont burn your neighbors house down by being lazy. Be prepared. !

Absolutely the ONLY way to keep huge gravel driveways weed free! I have nuked my large driveway 4X’s using Round Up & other supposed weed killers, yet they refuse to die. Bought the torch, & now my driveway is finally weed free!!! Thanks for the great video!!!

The way this worked for me, unless the weeds are just tiny new babies, it’s pretty futile. Older weeds just gro back immediately.

Safer and doesn’t hurt dogs. I get that. The poison you recommended using is contradictory to what you are saying. Going to skip the poison, the burning is fantastic though.
