I'm African, to me sometimes it feels like African Americans look down upon our culture and ways of life. We listen to your music and dress like you sometimes but we don't feel that same love in return. That disconnect is strong

@@lucasmartin4883 I agree. I am a Nigerian-American-first generation. Both of my parents are from Nigeria. There is ignorance on both sides and both are influenced by destructive colonial tactics. It is a task to get both sides to understand the truth of identity.

@SoLucky I’m African American and growing up here in America we were miseducated on Africa. I think it’s a task on both sides to come together but more on our side being African Americans to unlearn the bullshit we were taught and search and discover the truth about our homeland and people in Africa. I think more than ever tho we as African Americans are starting to discover that truth and slowly bridge that gap. It helps when artists like Burna Boy and Akon shed a light on their native countries in Africa and change our perspective. Just bare with us we’re coming home soon lol

Loool I think when he was saying English is hard for him, it was because he wanted to say something that makes sense in Yoruba but doesn’t translate well. Of course his command of English is perfect but to articulate himself in a ‘coded’ way was probably what he was struggling with. I feel like in general he was trying too hard to be diplomatic. He should of just let the pidgin, Yoruba or uncoded language fly. Those who hear will hear

Don, you hit the bullseye with your observation. I'm Nigerian (half Yoruba, and half Hausa). I speak 6 Nigeran languages fluently. I have the same problem like Burna Boy. When I tell my friends and colleagues here in Houston,Texas that I have a problem with English language.....they just laugh at me, and they all like "what the f..k did he just say!!!?" Sometimes, I wanna tell them something that would make sense if it was said in an African language.........but wouldn't translate well in English. I think I have an excellent command of the English language. But there are moments when I just fight really hard to find the right words to get my point across.

Saw Burna Boy last year October in Newcastle had a blast. I like the fact that he's being himself here, he doesn't portray himself as someone who thinks he's better than others. He's educating and at the same time he's saying we're no different than y'all because we have our own struggles too. If every African all over the world came together, we will be leaders of this earth and we as black people will finally get our respect. Like Malcolm X said "No matter where the black man is, he will never be respected till Africa is a world power". Naija stand up

So to translate Burna Boy's message... If one knows his/her root, how strong his/her roots are, how rich the background is, the rich stock one comes from... there's a confidence, a way one moves without even speaking that speaks volumes and one won't have to ASK for what is their's by right but will KNOW and TAKE what is his/her... #Culture #Richness #BlackGold #Africa #NaijaStandUp Also, Burna Boy has been around for a WWHHHIILLE! So proud to know he's getting due recognition!!!

@@egnaliromeo1007Most of the social media videos of "Xenophobia" are fake news. Random vigilante justice videos. Sometimes even with Spanish spoken in the background. LOL! Three people were killed in Durban South Africa. Starting with a South African killed by foreigners and then retaliation! All the pretense on social media about massive violence is exaggerated. Malawians left one neighborhood out of precaution and then came back. (This translated to 500 Malawians "displaced") This simply does not affect most people even in the one area that this was in!
