With all due respect, I hate when collectors of any kind go to Judge Milan. She really insists she knows how the markets of different collectibles work and she always concludes that people can't get large sums of money for these items. Once, she lowballed a video game collector because she thought it was unbelievable that any of the games would sell for over $100 (little did she know, people commonly sell and BUY 2nd hand games for $300+ if they're rare enough). She does this a lot and it's always unfortunate.

I think it's incredibly weird that we place so much value in terms of money onto a branded product that was made by the same kid in the same sweatshop that only costs a dollar to make it. I can understand sentimental value, but breaking your wallet for a collection item is absurd. Clothes, Games, Phones, digital content. It's all the same, made for a dollar and sold for a million.

And for some reason it always tends to be the same folks that can't pay their bills and are barely getting by paycheck to paycheck. Materialistic people turn my stomach. What's even more telling is that most people know exactly what you just said (same kid, same sweatshop, different label), they just choose to ignore that fact because their desire to "be cool" and keep up with the Jones' overrides any slight empathy they might have had for a child in a foreign country who they'll never lay eyes on. The entitlement of it all... 🤮

Defendant knew better. Those shoes have special release dates and they are worth way more than $300. She gets it wrong sometimes.

She didn't get it wrong. She gave him the amount that he AGREED to accept. Additionally, the burden of proof is on the plaintiff, and he went into court with ZERO proof. I will never understand the people who say, "I didn't think I needed proof."

Judge made a very valid point that just because something isn’t produced anymore, doesn’t mean it’s worth more. If that was the case, everything out of stock would become valuable. The plaintiff way overvalued his sneakers, subjectively, instead of objectively, like bringing proof from searches on the Internet to prove the sneakers’ value. Bottom line is he’s just making up the value before his likes them.

The simple fact the judge has difficulty believing the price for the Jordan 11 just shows she's not qualified to judge this case.

If they aren’t being sold then how would he get this imaginary price he is making up.
@kaitlin47
@kaitlin47 2 жыл бұрын
It’s not imaginary. There’s many companies like stock x that have shoes that aren’t being sold anymore that sell for 3,4,5x as much as they were when first released. Jordans do not depreciate.
